Decision

So after about 2 and a half years I have finally been referred to gynae. I had my appointment on Saturday and I now have to decide if I want the laparoscopy. Of course I am going to do it as I need a definite answer (hopefully) on what’s going on. I am sooooo nervous about this. Did anyone else feel like that? It’s the thought of being under anaesthetic that really freaks me out!

Hey, yeh I was in the same boat in terms of neves, for me it was more the op itself. But honestly I didn’t remember a thing it was my third op and because I was so nervous they gave me diazepam before hand so I was at more ease. It’s quite common to be nervous due to anaesthetic so the should be prepared for it. When you have your pre op just ensure you let them know. Good luck!

Thanks so much for your reply. I e never had any ops before so just didn’t know what to expect. I think I’ll be going down the diazepam route too! Thank you, hope you are managing ☺️

I had a lap in 2009 which diagnosed am so. I was really nervous beforehand. They were brilliant with me though. It was worth it to get an answer. Good luck.

Hi yeah I was so nervous the day before, thinking all kinds of silly things. It really is nothing to worry about as you don’t know anything about it until you wake up. For me the only bad thing was the vomiting afterwards, not being able to go to the toilet for a week and got an infection in my belly button. Everyone is different so you may not get any of the above. Make sure you have comfortable pyjamas, some magazines, someone to look after you for a few days afterwards as you will feel drained. At least now you will hopefully get some answers and then be given the appropriate medication etc ....... x
