Working out my cycle

I’m just wondering, how can I workout when I’m next due on my period. My endometriosis has been causing me to have a lot of irregular bleeding/ periods. My last bleed was last week about 6 days ago. Does that mean it’s the start of another cycle? I keep track of it all on an app I have but it’s not helping to figure out when I’m next due on. According to my app I’m due to start a period next week, and my pill packet well doctors tell me to stop taking them when I’m bleeding

I’ve had lots of unprotected sex with my boyfriend so I need to know when I should take a test or even if I need to take a test. Oh it’s all so confusing. Any ideas?

If you are on the pill as in hormonal then you won't actually have proper cycles, as you won't release an egg. This also means any bleeding isn't a period as no egg was released so they are classed as breakthrough bleeds. You shouldn't have any of these if on the pill unless you have a 7 day gap after 21 days of pills, that fall in hormones makes the lining of the uterus shed. So you'll be fine regarding unprotected sex.

That said your irregular bleeding while on the pill should be looked into by your gp or a specialist as although it's a side effect - this only relates to spotting not full on bleeds so you should get your hormone levels checked.

Any app wont support or track irregular cycles as there's no pattern especially when combined with being on the pill. Mine - naturalcylces which is the best tracker out there at the moment even says it needs to be regular (plus or minus 4 days from the average for you) for it to track and calculate cycles even then it does say it's not 100% reliable. I use it so I know when my endo flareups are.

It's odd that you're told to stop taking your pills when you're bleeding as usually with hormonal pills you take them until you need to stop and then you have a bleed which feels like a period.

Definitely chat to your gp, it may be your pill isn't working with you / endo very well and other hormones need to be considered.
