Hi just wanted a peace of mind and also if anyone else had this..
I have been diagnosed with stage 4 endo and i have cysts on my ovaries one is 7cm with a blood clot, my MDT meeting is done and i recieved outcome of my meeting.
They did a test which showed my ca125 test was raised to 487, which i believe to be a cancer antigen test and have also found that this raise could mean ovarian cancer, but also know that this raise could be due to endometriosos and some people who have ovarian cancer may show no raise in ca125 test. And my review also said to obtain a sample from the cyst to test for cancer. Has anyone else had a sample test from their cyst to rule out ovarian cancer?
I will get to know the details at the end of April but didn't want to stress about this till then.
Thanks for reading guys xx

A raised CA 125 result is almost always NOT cancer (i think the statistics are 15 times out of every 16 tests its actually NOT cancer - so relax. I raised CA125 is (in my understanding) extremely common for people with Endometriosis, so no real need for nightmares.
A very brief non detailed summary of the previous 5 years of my experience of this..
(I'm not a doctor, but i am a professional bore on this subject) endometriosis is very often a result of a thyroid problem (yes, thyroid (they're often just looking at where the problem is, rather than where its root cause is!)
Most people have had thyroid tests (the TSH test is most of the time not very good at what its supposed to do (for various reasons) and have been told they're NOT hypothyroid.
Low thyroid hormone means that you can NOT produce adequate progesterone.
This results in (amongst other things) you being estrogen dominant.
(this is why the Pill and other progesterone supplementation can often ease symptoms)
This leads to problems with the ovaries and endometrium.
If you have very heavy periods, endometriosis (likely on this board!), fibrocystic breast disease or just very painful breasts at that time, cysts in general, thinning hair, often feel too cold (or too hot), are missing the outer thirds of your eyebrows (or are thinning at the outer edges) - and a gazillion other symptoms you're most likely hypothyroid.
Obtain an alcohol thermometer (not digital). Put it in your armpit for 10 minutes before you get out of bed on days 2,3,4 of your cycle. If you are consistently less then 36.6 ish, then the chances are, you have an under performing thyroid.
Its time to read up ladies..(on thyroids, iodine, selenium , ATP and other supporting supplements) and the requirement to rid your life of xenoestrogens, fluoride, chlorine and bromine (all halogens that displace iodine).
My recommendations for further reading and searching would be..
Thanks for your response, i knew its not cancer, i just wanted to know if anyone who had a clothes cyst was tested for cancer...
And regarding thyroid, iv had numerous blood tests for this and from what i know my thyroids are fine, there was no concern regarding this, but now that you've said i feel i should get my gp to look at this again.
I really appreciate you taking time to share your experience here. This has helped me a lot.
I had been diagnosed with borderline hypothyroid in mid 2017, which i ignored and didnt really go down searching for rootcause. i was recently diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis with 6-7cm endometrioma on the left ovary. I felt like i'm just one among the unlucky to have this dreadful disease and tried to make peace with it, as i couldn't possibly figure out any reason for this...
But everything seems to make sense now.. If only I knew this before, i wouldn't have opted for zoladex... By the way, i'm in zoladex for 3 months now and i took Thyroid Function test yesterday, the results are normal... Does this mean that I do not have Hypothyroid, or could it be because of the zoladex that i do not have enough estrogen that inturn makes the thyroid hormone work normally?
