When you first realized your pain and symptoms, were they very sudden or were they always there? I've had my period for around three years and was never too concerned about anything until a couple months ago I started getting some intense pain out of no where.

Sudden pain
My pain and other symptoms were never ever there until I became regularly sexually active a year ago. I'd never had a particularly painful period in my life, never had a period or pain while on the pill for the previous 4 years, but suddenly I felt the full force of all the typical endometriosis symptoms. I thought that it couldn't be endometriosis as I thought I would have had these symptoms right from when my periods started or at least by my last period before going on the pill, but I was wrong. I don't think it's particularly uncommon for a sudden onset of symptoms with endometriosis, just that there is not much clarity about the condition itself.
In hindsight post surgery I think I always had some underlying pain/discomfort but it was my normal so didn't notice it. The reason I got to the point of surgery was I suddenly had very intense bursts of pain about 4 days before my period and almost passed out each time. I'd never had anything like that before, though I'd always had some form of what I thought were just normal period pains nothing too intense. I'd had had other symptoms like dodgy stomach, fatigue, low mood, suddenly heavy periods at various points in the years before but they were attributed to other things.
