Hey 😊 I’ve always been told (by different consultants at different hospitals) for all my laps that I could start up exercise again after 6 week and should take it very slowly.

Hope your recovery is going well xxx

Hey, I'm like you, I'd go stir crazy sat around recovering!

It depends on what your specialist says and how you feel.

I do pole-fitness and yoga, just a beginner. I had a chat with my instructors and they both said they are happy to accept me back at 3 to 4 weeks depending on how I feel. I went back to both at about 3 weeks but explained to those I was with how I'm feeling, so I took it easy. We're a group that's open about stuff so most people there know about endo and what I'm going through. I was already doing simple yoga stretches at home from one week after my lap so I really wanted to do stuff! I'd say it was about 6 weeks when I really felt I could do the usual stuff before the lap but I was a little weaker which is expected, and my core has needed so much more work as post lap I had no idea how to use it anymore - that's getting there.

You could have a chat with your center / instructor and see what they say; explain about your lap, how many incisions, how you're feeling etc, they'll have legal stuff that says their insurance only covers you for certain things so it's like how you're feeling, how long after your op. Main thing is you need to tell them so if anything happens you're covered by their sports insurance - that thing you signed when you started classes confirming that you are healthy and lists any allergies / previous operations - it also says you'll let them know of any health problems.

Just an fyi expect your core muscles to have gone; they've had incisions, so you'll need to take some time to focus on repairing those. You may feel a little weaker, more tired than before when you get back to your Zumba. Don't be disappointed if there's stuff you can't do that you could before, just listen to your body xx

I went back after three weeks but went from regular boxing to yoga and resistance training about 3 times a week. I'm just about at the point where I feel my fitness is back to normal but I've had a set back with horrible abdominal pains. Not sure if this is because I pushed myself too hard so sticking with the low intensity stuff until my post op follow up next week.

Not what you're looking for?
