Zoladex bleeding

Hi, I had my first laparoscopy last month. I am a endo sufferer for many years. Findings were endometriosis and adenomyosis. I had a endometiotic cyst which was taken out. Since my op I have been on various hormones for my bleeding..nothing has worked. I am now on zoladex which was given on 11th Jan.. I started bleeding from 25th very heavy with huge clots. Doesn't look like it's going to settle soon. Did anyone have a bleeding after first zoladex injection and for how long?

I had regular periods for 3/4 months but they got lighter. I think my first one was horrendous too. Give it time x

Hi, I also bled after having the zoladex injection which did worry me as I thought it was meant to stop your cycle. But, i didn't have the usual pain from the endometriosis which was a relief. I bled for a couple of weeks. The same thing happened with the second injection. I have since had my ovaries removed, my consultant said it was normal to bleed after the injection. He also said that a lot of my endometriosis had died off from the effects of the injection so it is definitely worth having!

Hi I was worried as I bled really heavily and I hadn't asked what to expect. I bled for maybe two and half weeks but haven't had anything since. I was told its completely different for all of us, so she said it wasn't worth asking her.

Fingers crossed it works well for you, I am having it for the same reasons as you and its worked for me. I am on month four now and haven't slept due to night sweats 😂 I am hoping to get ivf at the end of it so it will be worth the lack of sleep

Hi, I had terrible heavy flooding 20 days after the first injection which I was given tablets to reduce the flow but it didn’t really make it any lighter it stopped a couple of days after my second injection and I had no period after that until I finished and my consultant started my contraceptive pill

I had 6 months of Zoladex after my lap and didn't have any bleeding after my second injection. Although I was more or less pain free for the 6 months, all the pain etc returned after stopping the injections. I also had a lot of side effects during the 6 months which made it a fairly miserable time until I was given a low dose of HRT toward the end. I have done a lot of research since through a site called Nancy's Nook on Facebook which someone on here was recommending. As a result I would not go on Zoladex or other hormone therapy again as it only suppresses the endo while you're on it, it does not cure it or get rid of it despite this still being a prevalent opinion. It can also cause long term side effects. Please consider doing your own research, Nancy's Nook is a brilliant, educational resource (despite the slightly odd name!) Fertility is not a concern for me so I can't comment from that point of view but I fully recommend empowering yourself to make the best choices for you by learning as much as you can from the up to date research out there. Sorry my post is so long but I can't tell you how much it has helped me to educate myself about this horrible condition. I really hope things improve for you.

Have you ever tried Visanne or Lupron before Zoladex? What kind of hormonal treatments have you tried?

Progesterone Norethistorone (works for a while until breakthrough happens while on the pill), Provera tablets, Mirena(rejected my body. Was inserted on the op day..came out by its own with heavy bleeding after 5 days), and now Zoladex.

Mirena is very very hard to handle. I cannot comment on Provera because I don't have any experience with it. If norethisterone didn't work, I don't know about Visanne. Zoladex is a very harsh drug (almost a last resort). I don't know, I would have gone on Visanne before Zoladex for sure but at this point I don't know if it could have helped you.

I want to tell you one thing though. Yes, the biopsy shows that extensive hormonal therapy was done, but that might have helped with the endometriosis, not with adenomyosis. Unfortunately adeno is a b**** and it is the main cause of major bleeding. Visanne is the best drug on the market for extreme bleeding and adeno treatment, so that's why I suggested it, but Zoladex is very strong too, so my suggestion is to keep going for 2-3 months and see how it goes and in case switch to Visanne or worse, Lupron.

Biopsy from the op shows extensive hormonal therapy done.
