Endo in “all pelvic quadrants” ?? What does that mean?

Hi all,

First post but have been using this forum for over a year now.

I was diagnosed with stage 3 endo via lap a month ago, they unfortunately couldn’t remove any of it for some reason. Today I asked my surgeon where the endo was, hoping to find out what organs it affects, all he said was that “the pelvis is divided into four quadrants, and they found endometriosis in all of them”.

He said it’s likely been affecting urination as it will affect my bladder? Does that mean it’s on my bladder? He said the same about my bowels?

I’m really confused and upset, I’ve had to interrupt my uni education because of the constant pain (I’m only 20). I’m being put on Provera so I hope that will help?

What does this quadrants thing mean?

Hi sorry to hear this! I had extensive endo and I think it was in all pelvic regions too. To be honest if you are still unclear I would send a letter to the hospital requesting all your operation notes so you can know exactly what they found. They are not always that clear in appointments and it can be frustrating. I understand you being upset as it’s such a shock and a difficult disease but with the right dr you will be treated well. Also I would guess they didn’t remove as it wasn’t an endo specialist and they are not allowed to operate anywhere near organs like bowel, bladder. I would suggest asking GO to refer you to a BSGE (endo) specialist for any further treatment. I had all mine cut out and it has really helped! Hope you’re ok xx

Thank you! I asked about them cutting it out and they said it would just grow back, but I’ve heard so many success stories about it so I don’t understand? I’ll ask to be referred, glad to hear you’ve had helpful treatment! xx
