Personally the side effects were quite bad first time around, lack of sleep, flushes, aching body, mood swings, tender breasts but the second lot I had hrt tablets which helped. You can’t have it long term as I think it causes thinning of bones as it’s a strong drug. Had one course of 6 last year and a course of 4 this year x
Thanks so much Laura, had one injection and have been feeling rather rubbish all the things you were say, also i read some bad reports re: your joints.....wondering if it is worth continuing.... x
Hi, I'm on Prostap right now (second month in) . This is the third time in on this treatment over the last 10 years. It really helps with reducing endometriosis and postponing the surgery but your life turns into a living hell... No sleep, mood swings, depression. If you can cope with all that then you should be on it. I'm currently taking a cocktail of vitamins to combat the side effects: vitamin b12 (anti depressive), calcium & vit D (for the joints).
Stay strong! You're not alone in this. Xx
Hi, I suggest searching for Prostap in the search section of this website. You should find all the discussions about it there. However, these will only be people’s opinions. I googled Prostap and found this leaflet: medicines.org.uk/emc/produc...
Hope it helps!
Are you taking HRT at the same time? It makes a big difference in terms of the side effects. When I was on Prostap I found that my mood settled down after 3 months and it was amazing not having periods or nearly so much pain.
Basically the way Prostap works is that it temporarily blocks your oestrogen hormones, mimicking menopause. That’s why it affects bone density— you don’t want to be on it so long that you have the bones of a 60 year old when you’re 30. HRT helps to protect against this by adding a little oestrogen back to protect you from the full effects of menopause.
