Hi Iv just joined as I really don’t think anyone else understands, am 24 An I was diagnosed with endo 3 years ago, I had the laparoscopy 2 years ago an it all seemed to be okay for a year but then my pain came back, I went back to my doctors An was referred back to the gynaecologist, I felt as I wasn’t being listened to as I told her my pain was back an she insisted that the pain was not related to my endo, I don’t no what my next step should be with this, does anyone else have An suggestions should I carry on going back to my doctors or pay for a private specialist Thanks x

Hi,

I am so sorry you are going through all of that. Unfortunetly you can get some gynaes that don't always listen. I know its hard but do not give up. Make them understand how much pain you are in as you do not deserve to just"deal with it"

It might be worth going back to the GP snd explain the list of pains or problems. I went private after seeing my gynae on the NHS. The main difference is they give you the time as your paying for it! This just shows the struggles of NHS.

Ive been diagnosed 15+yrs now and numerous laps. In all that time I have learnt do not sell yourself as the drs don't always see you at your worse so show them a pain diary, get a friend, family or partner to go to show moral support as it is hard. Make a list of questions or worries.

Endo affects everything and i gave my last gynae a list of pains in body, mental health feelings and even my sex life pains! A good gynae will want all of this to help you get a managable solution. Please don't think you are alone there are lots of support groups online or face to face that help.

When I went private an appt cost £185 and the lap was just under £4,000 (I live in Kent and know it varies across the UK and my gynae has an interest in endo) so just be prepared for costs but is quicker then the NHS.

Sorry for rambling but I wish you all the best and keep us updated. Big virtual hugs xxxx

Thank you for that it’s helped a lot I will keep track of a pain diary I haven’t thought of that before when Iv been gyne as soon as I go In my head goes blank, I suffer with really bad bloating as well an they don’t believe me when I say about it.

I have been looking into counselling as being only 24 an being told I might not be able to have kids an talk of freezing my eggs is a lot to take in.

Also looked into a specialist clinic in Birmingham for endo but it seems everyone I speak to doesn’t no much about it. Just pretty frustrating really x

Not a problem there are loads of apps that are avaiable on phones you can get and you can email them to your drs (if they request it) snd it shows patterns and what flates it etc. I would really recommend them.

I know the feeling about kids I got told at 18 i was infertile. Don't give up there are so many options and it is tough when you first hear it. Please process it all you are still very young and have LOTS of options. Don't make rushed decisions as it hard especially this time of the year. Remember there are a lot of woman that have kids with endo DRs sometimes say the worst case situation to prepare you may be fine. If you are going for counselling I would advise CBT therapy as it helped me through my tough times.

Have you considered calling endometriosis helpline as they are fab so much knowledge snd can help you find local clincs or support groups.

All the best xxx
