I am due to have my uterus, tubes and ovaries removed in the coming weeks when they also excise my stage 4 Endo. I’m 41 and have had 2 kids (was not intending to have any more). I am currently already on zoladex (chemical menopause) and oestrogen hrt meds and this has been good so far.
The surgeon has asked whether I wanted to keep my cervix. I have not had any worrying smear results or cancer history in the family. He seemed to be suggesting it as a preemptive safety measure.
Have any of you had your cervix removed with the hysterectomy? Can you let me know if this caused any issues for you? What was the experience like?
Many thanks.

I wish would have kept my cervix. I think it might have given me support for my bladder, however, they said there is no relation to the two. Just do you Kegels for sure. It is, however a personal preference to kept it. I was told by my friends keep the parts that are healthy they are there for a reason.
Thanks. I am tempted to keep it, but want to know more about it. I’m torn. There is just so much to take in and decide with these surgeries, it is a bit overwhelming. I will ask about the “structural support” my cervix may be offering. (Sorry, I work in construction and this is the way I seem to understand my body too!). Thanks for getting back to me though.
