Ca 125

I have a ca125 level of 57. Over a 4 year period it's went from 36 then 45 and now 57. I've to go in and have my ovaries removed as I'm told at 57 years of age I don't really need them anymore. I know this isn't a high level compared to some of the ladies that have posted but I'm worried sick about the outcome. My own g.p says it is highly unlikely to be ovarian cancer. My lower back pain is horrendous especially in bed. I have bloating to my tummy. My right side of the tummy is painful to press, and I per constantly! I'm still working and eating and drinking fine. Any input would be much appreciated.

If you have endo that ca125 is pretty typical.as you are now over 50 i would want them removed to be sure but i suspect all will be fine

hi. How are you getting on? Have you had a Ct scan / MRI scan for more detail? I had a high ca125 and it was terribly stressful, we we're in the fortunate position of having health cover and I got to see the specialist quickly and after consultation with colleagues it was put down to a large cyst and the endometriosis. The pain you mention sounds similar to me ( I had awful hip pain as well) and they found a frozen pelvis during surgery so might be worth looking into that. Xx

Hi, hope your feeling better.

When I had the ca125 results the doctors worried me sick until they decided it wasn’t cancer and that it was raised due to endo. Until proper diagnosis I was seen by 3 gynaecologist consultants in different hospitals and then I asked to be seen by a endo specialist who did a internal scan and confirmed it was severe endo. I was diagnosed with stage 4 and I also suffer from bad back pain when in bed especially. These pains for me come and go so I will have a very bad period of pain and then some days are pain free. There are so many different effects of endo that could be causing the pain on the right side of your tummy, adhesions, cysts, frozen pelvis etc . But the bloating is something 99% of us experience and there are ways to reduce it dramatically. You should look into different diets, I tried being vegetarian which has worked wonders and then I decided to add back sea food for the obvious reasons that it is a very good source of vitamins and minerals.

I know it’s very nerve wracking when the doctor just looks and says ahh no I think it’s endo and you have to put your faith in them. But maybe a laparoscopy may be a good way to ease your mind and find out if it is or not indeed endo causing all the havoc. Still try and get a second opinion if you can as that can help stop you worrying.

Xx
