Hi,

I saw a Gynae who has advised me to take contraceptive pill to help with my endometriosis symptoms. I have tried numerous in the past & some work, some don't, and I wondered what worked for you? Advice greatly appreciated. Xx

Hiya I’m currently on microgynon which is a combined pill. My gp put me on it when she referred me to gynaecology, as she said the pill was one of the first things they would suggest. I had my lap in May with confirmed endo, and the consultant has suggested i stay on the pill to try and control my endo until I decide I want surgery. But then of course there’s also coils and implants too. It may just be trial and error to find what’s best for you x

Thank you for replying. She did mention it I'm sure I was on this one many moons ago but willing to try again. I tried coil not for me sadly. X

My doctors are still trying to figure out what's causing my symptoms but I'm currently on Brevinor back to back which stopped my uncontrollable bleeding and has began to decrease my pain a little. I have to go back for a review soon though and I've tried 5 different pills in the last 12 months so I may be changed again. Hope you find one you get on with :)

I've not heard of Brevinor before. I don't think I've tried that one. I hope you get some answers soon and feel better. Thank you for replying x

I hadn't either, my GP actually went through a long list in a book of possible options he had and just offered me to try it. So far its better than all others. Thanks, i hope youre able to feel better soon too x

I’m on microgynon, and I find it works well for me. I tried the coil but it just didn’t work for me. As others have said it is a bit of trial and error - what works for one person won’t necessarily work for another. I would suggest that you don’t suffer in silence if something doesn’t work for you - tell your doctor and try something else. Also keeping a symptom diary can be helpful so you can see if things are related to your cycle and which part. Good luck! X

The coil didn't work out for me either. Did you suffer with emotional side effects at all? It really affected me in that way even though they said it wouldn't.

I have tried microgynon some time ago I may try again. I should definitely keep a diary this was my downfall at my appointment yesterday. I couldn't give any key dates and symptoms. Thank you for replying x
