To add a bit of background, I am 23 years old and have had 4 laps for my endo. My most recent was 12 months ago when I also had a mirena fitted as I’ve been tried on pretty much every other contraception. My main issue is the large scale of pain I am in on a daily basis, I feel as though everything else I could manage if it weren’t for the pain, however that is probably wishful thinking. I saw my (amazing!) consultant on Wednesday who has put me on Syranel. I believe the logic is that it stops my ovaries from working to stop what endo I currently have from growing/flaring up. I’m aware this is only something I can take for 6 months and he’s already discussed another surgery for next year but I just wondered what anyone’s experience was with syranel? I started taking it on Thursday and so far other than a headache and a lot of cramping I’ve been safe. But I wondered if it took a while for it to kick in? I know my mum had pretty intense perimenopausal symptoms and wondered if there was anything particularly I should be prepared for? X

Hi. Yes i used Synarel many many moons ago, the one u spray up your nose. I used it for 9 months with fab results, no periods, no pain, normal life. It takes a month, maybe 3 to really kick in and shut down ovaries. Just found it annoying keep spraying up nose especially when i had a cold..there was a manufacturing problem at one time and dr put me over to zoladex inj, tho same thing, it was better for me. Stayed on it for about 20 odd years until i decided to have ovaries removed 5 years ago aged 56. I was lucky that gp let me stay on it all those years. No side effects except i have mild osteoporosis which i take vits for. I called it my wonder drug. Good luck with it and hope it works for you but u must give it time x
Thank you for your reply! Does make me feel better. Im glad to hear you’re pretty much sorted now! It’s always encouraging to hear good feedback as you go online and it’s always the negative stuff you see x
