Complex cyst

Hi,

Has anyone with stage 3 Endo had a complex cyst with an elevated CA-125. I had a CT contrast scan which had shown a 4 cm complex cyst. I am awaiting an appointment with a gynae oncologist. Hopefully it is just the Endometriosis and not ovarian cancer!

Hiya, I’ve recently found out that I have a 4cm complex cyst and I was tested for CA-125 levels. My levels were normal BUT I was warned that if it’s not normal then I shouldn’t assume it’s cancer, cysts can throw off results, especially if they’re complex so try not to worry too much! x

I have stage 3 endo and cysts all over both ovaries. I think the larger cyst is around 7cm on the left side and around 5cm on the right. My CA-125 levels were way over the normal markers and spent a couple of weeks thinking I had something horrendously wrong. But the marker for that blood test will be raised with anything that causes your ovary function to be abnormal, such as cysts growing on them. I know it’s easy for me to say, but try not to worry. Because it’s a cancer marker they will immediately refer under the 2 week wait if you’re under nhs care. 🤞🏻 you’re not waiting long. x

I have a large endometrioma on my left ovary and when my ca125 was done in hospital at the time it ruptured it was over 1400, I was referred to an oncology clinic and completely panicked but was then informed both endometriosis and the inflammation and pain from the ruptured cyst would lead to elevated ca125 levels. The test can be affected by lots of things, they tested me again and few weeks later and it had come right down to 89 so it was just the endometrioma . Hopefully this will be the same for you too, try not to worry I was told they were just being sure to rule things out, good luck xxx

I had a similar situation! My CA 125 was 1826. Turns out I had an endometrioma larger than a grapefruit. That came out (along with my left ovary) and all was clear. Praying you are clear as well. Don’t panic! It is scary but as others have said, there are so many factors that cause an elevated CA 125 and cancer is only one of them.

hi. Hope you're having a comfortable day. I had alarmingly high ca125 levels (2146). It was a stressful time but it was caused by the slow rupturie6cm chocolate cyst I had ( news to us, we'd never even heard of endometriosis!) . It was an awful few days going through the scans and waiting for results but the endometriosis specialist said it was fairly common for cysts to cause raised levels, my grandma at 91 had the best advice, wait till you have something to worry about - easier said than done but its true. I've since had the cyst removed.

I hope you get your results soon. Be thinking of you. Xx
