Freaking out
Hi, omg I had my op on nearly 2 weeks ago and I was freaking loads!! Told my friends and family I wanted them to wear bright clothes to my funeral and what songs and I was serious 😂😂 I was so scared but honestly everyone at the hospital understands and they r all friendly. What time is your op is it morning or afternoon? When I had mine I was walked to this room by the assistant anaesthetist and I led on the bed she put some sticky things on my chest and my side, then the main anaesthetist come in put the cannula in my hand we was all just chatting then said he was giving me some drugs and all I remember was us chatting then for literally for like 2 seconds I remember feeling sleepy then coming round in recovery. Hope that helps 😊 xxx
I’m honestly the same I was telling my mum what if I don’t wake up I’m making myself worse I’ve tired taking kalms but I’m a nervous wereck right now I the surgery doesn’t bother me it is fully being put to sleep I’m having nightmares it’s terrible and I have to be there for 11:30am but just depends where I am on the list for my op so I’m pretty unsure still but apparently my family can’t wait with me which is making me bad aswell aha and thankyoh so much hope your receiving well x
I was completely the same! I think they can give you sedative to help if your really worried. Mine was morning so I had to be there at 7:45, went up to day surgery my mum and partner could come with me had to wait in a waiting area then went in to see my consultant about 8:15, then sat around for a while then got called by a nurse to go through some paperwork, then I had to go in this little room kinda like a changing room in a shop, put my gown on (and paper pants 😂😂) given some really sexy socks 😂 then got given some painkillers to take and a sip of water which I was so thankful for then you have to put all your stuff in a locker. I just shoved it in the locker not in my bag with my clothes to wear home I was going to leave my bag with my mum but lucky I did not cuz they bring you your bag to get changed after your op. So make sure everything is in your bag then I gave the key to a nurse then I had to say bye to my mum and partner then I had to go to this little waiting room but I think you can take your phone with you I did not cuz I did not no you could but I’m sure I heard someone ask if you could and the nurse said yes. I was only sat there for like 15mins then the assistant anaesthetist come and got me. Sorry if I went on a bit there 😂 but there is something’s i wish someone told me before I hope it helps. Xxx
Hey, being put to sleep is nothing to be scared off. I was at first but on the day of my lap I was so calm.
You’ll feel a slight pain when the cannula goes in and then it feels a little cold. The guy was talking to me throughout it so I was distracted. I started to feel a little dizzy and the lights went blurry. Next thing I was awake in recovery haha.
It takes like 5 seconds to fall asleep and the nurse was holding my hand. I was so tired and hungry, I couldn’t wait to be asleep tbh.
Try some mindfulness before your op, there’s a good app called headspace. It will help to try and keep you calm etc xx
I don’t know any ways to keep yourself calm but you literally just fall asleep then wake up. I feel like I’ve had the deepest sleep ever when I wake up and you don’t remember a thing! When you wake up you might struggle to keep your eyes open and feel very tired but the operation at this point is completely over, they will of already covered any wounds, dressed you again... everything is fully complete. You might even wake up back by your bed but most likely in recovery. I’ve been under a few times and can’t still get nervous when I’m about to go under, be honest and tell them... my last op I was freaking out a bit for some reason and the surgeons explained each step they was doing before putting me under! Good luck xxxx
Hi , sorry you are so scared but that is natural . I have had five surgeries and you fall asleep so fast after they put medication in your IV. You will wake up in the recovery and be very tired. It really is fast so try not to worry and good luck.
Honestly don't be scared lovely. I had mine on Wednesday and the doctors and nurses were super nice and made me feel really calm and comfortable. Just take some books, phone or a game that you like as the wait is a little boring. Other than that it'll be fine. I understand why you are worried. It's natural. It'd be weird if you were not worried but it is really going to be fine. So please don't stress about it xx
P.s all the best for it and get well quickly xx
