My estrogen dominance test results

Hi ladies

I have made a few posts recently about my attempts to find out an alternative treatment option. I was diagnosed with endometriosis and very unusual type of fibroid, which is causing me a great deal of pain and chronic fatigue. The doctor's said that the only real cure would be to try to remove the fibroid but this would be extremely complex and likely involve a hysterectomy. I wanted to avoid this. The option they gave me was a chemical menopause through the use of zoladex. I also wanted to avoid this. I therefore began researching alternative treatment options and that is when I found the theory of estrogen dominance. This is when there is an imbalance between oestrogen and progesterone in the body, which can cause many symptoms amongst those, the growth of endometriosis and fibroids. Lots of things can cause oestrogen dominance and it can be very common, particularly when women reach the perimenopausal stage.

I will soon be starting bio-identical progesterone cream and wanted to test for my oestrogen and progesterone levels before I did this. I wanted to make sure that I had a baseline to measure against so that I could monitor the use of this cream. And I also wanted to have some confirmation as to whether I did have oestrogen dominance. I used a private lab called verisana to test for oestrogen dominance and I received my results today. Although my oestrogen and progesterone levels are both within normal limits, my estrogen is much higher than progesterone and I therefore I have oestrogen dominance.

I actually feel relieved about this. I am quite anxious about trying bio identical progesterone cream to treat my difficulties as it is not what the doctor has suggested and I am worried that it may cause further difficulties for me. But, for me, the use of synthetic hormones, just did not instinctively feel right for me. Therefore I feel to do this is really my only valid option at the moment. So to have some kind of evidence that there is an underlying hormone imbalance, makes me feel a bit more confident before I start making some changes. I start using the cream tomorrow and I will be posting about what happens. I hope so much that this will help me as I have suffered so much. Some days I really don't know how I've managed to get though it.

I share in the hope it will help others.

Obviously we are all looking for a quick easy fix that doesn’t require much effort but oestrogen dominance requires a complete diet and lifestyle overhaul. Changing to anti inflammatory diet taking out foods that change our hormones. Getting rid of all toxins from household and skincare etc. I’ve managed to bring mine down massively with lifestyle and DIET changes. I’ve ordered the same cream to see if will help me with chemical pregnancies and to make me feel a little better in myself. Xxx

I'm actually not looking for a quick fix at all. I understand that estrogen dominance involves many factors and I've been working through each of them for a long time.

I've only recently been diagnosed with endo and for the past 4 years that I've been ill, I've been trying to get to the bottom of what's been going on. I thought it might be hormonal in nature and did loads of research 2 years ago and that's when I started eliminating all the possible things that could be impacting my hormones. I have a vegan, plant based diet, use natural cleaning products, etc etc. I meditate, practice yoga, etc etc but it's not made any difference to my symptoms. They help me cope and I've noticed benefits in other ways but my symptoms that have debilitated me are the same. That's why I'm starting on the cream.

I don't think any one factor (diet, toxins, emotional work or hormones) is more important. I think they all have to be done at the same time, for a full system approach.

I hope the cream benefits you too

Hi

I am very interested in hearing how you get on with the cream.

I agree with you and the facts are I too have improved so many aspects of my lifestyle but like you I am still struggling which is why I resorted to this vile Prostap poison that’s currently taking over my life. So anything natural is so worth a try.

Is it the cream made from yams?

I am sure it will eventually be proven that most endo suffers are oestrogen dominant as endo feeds on it and we are often on contraceptive medications full of it for years.

My gynaecologist said It is heraditory and my poor daughter is showing all the signs of endo at 17 which is just awful.

I do so hope you have some relief with the cream please keep us informed.

Hi,

I am on the same path. I am perimenopausal as well. There are lots of symptoms I am dealing with. I embarked on the changing supplements and my functional doctor few months ago. I have nodules on my thyroid and cysts on my breast as well. I have been using Ayurveda as an alternative to other known methods. I am using Progesterone oil and I feel wonderful. I use Guggul and a mix of powdered herbs for balancing and cleaning, detoxifying my thyroid. I have just done an ultrasound and my nodules can hardly be seen. I still have some symptoms but I am dealing with them using different supplements. Regarding Verisana, I have been trying to get some results from my tests that I sent twice. They keep on telling me that they did not receive them or one of the hormone is outdated although they have the same sample for all the hormones they are doing. I think that they are not the right lab to go to. If you guys know any of the labs that do salivary tests and they are serious about their busines, please, let me know about it.

Hi, I wrote that post 5 years ago and so much of what I wrote I later found to be completely wrong. I just want to let you know, in case you are using what I wrote 5 years ago to guide you in any way. I wasn't getting much help with my drs and that's why I went down this path of alternative medicine but, just a few months after writing this post, I eventually saw a specialist consultant in endometriosis who reviewed my case. He was shocked by the care I'd received (or lack of). He explained that a mass had been found, they had no idea what it was, it could be endometriosis but they wouldn't know until they operated. We agreed to a surgical approach to assess and remove the unusual mass and deal with any endometriosis that was there. In the end, it turned out to be a very rare parasitic fibroid that was attached to my bowel, kidney, liver and every surface inside my abdomen. The fibroid had grown outside my uterus, but it's blood supply stopped and so it started to get it's blood supply from my organs. No endometriosis could be found. I now know that messing around with hormones is really not something I want to undertake. I was talking all these creams and supplements but who knows what they were doing to me, at best this was a huge waste of money but at worst, if I was increasing my estrogen then I could've been helping that mass grow. I now know that hormones can't be 'balanced' that this is not possible, nor is it something we want, hormones are supposed to fluctuate. I also know that all these tests I paid for are a waste of money and have no scientific credibility. Dr Gen Gunther is a great credible resource if you want to look into why I now believe this.

My surgery was a success and completely resolved the pain I was having. I continued to have perimenopausal symptoms and because I was under 40 I was advised to use HRT, which helped massively with those symptoms.

It took me a long time to get the correct medical treatment, this was partly due to an under funded health care system and some not very well informed doctors but also because I had an extremely rare condition. Unfortunately, I see now that I also played my part in this delay in treatment by rejecting medicine and taking the advice of alternative practitioners, who, quite frankly, I now view as charlatans.

I really do hope you find treatment for your symptoms but please don't listen to anything I wrote 5 years ago as I was so badly informed.
