I have been getting extremely bad abdominal pain for the last two months now it started a week after my period however the pain hasn't fully gone away its not as extreme but its still there, the pain was so bad I couldn't even straighten out my stomach or sit down I ended up being hospitalised but with no results. I am on the pill to regulate my periods however this hasn't worked. I have been on mefonamic acid and two doses of cocodomal but nothing works. does anyone have any theory or can relate ? ( I also have a long family history of endometriosis in my family x
someone please help I cant bear the pain - Endometriosis UK
someone please help I cant bear the pain
I've done everything to help the pain nothing has worked for me just had my lap and they found nothing so I'm a bit devastated as have no answers now
I hope you feel better soon. Have you spoken to your GP about having the coil. I had it and it doesn't get rid of the pain completely for me but at least I can function. I used to be basically bed ridden before or always in hospital. Other from that I would suggest you get a stronger pain relief co codomol is ok for mild pain but I cope on tramadol or on really bad days oramorph. I also do light excersie some people swear by the endo diet (doesnt work for me) or peppermint tea. Lots of hot water bottles i have about 6!!!😀
Main thing is go back to your dr and tell them that it is affecting your day to day life. Dont be content with the pain they will be able to help you just have to be on their case sometimes.
All the best and really hope you feel better soon x
So sorry to hear this. My 16 year old daughter has had severe cramps with her period lasting 30 days at a time, she was checked for endometriosis but the Doctor didn’t see anything ( I’m wondering if the Doctor isn’t very good ) she has stomach pain with this all the time and can’t eat any dairy or it gets worse with bad diarrhea. She is waiting to get another option from another gynaecologist. Also she takes modulon to help with the stomach pain. I do think this is related .I hope you have been checked for endometriosis and you get to the bottom of your pain.
Hey, you should ask to see a gynaecologist if you haven’t already and one who is an endo specialist. Since your family have endo, they should at least do a lap xx
Hi,
I'm so sorry to hear how much you're struggling. It's so difficult when you don't feel you're getting any help.
What type of scans have you had?
I'm assuming from what you've said that you've not had endo confirmed?
As your pain is constant and not just around points of your cycle, it could be endo adhesions or a cyst (there are probably other things that should account for it too) . If you've not been diagnosed with endo and you've not seen gynae, then you really want to get a referral to gynae by your GP asap. Unfortunately you will have a wait until you're seen though, they're is usually a long wait in most health boards.
If you've not had an ultrasound, your GP can refer you for this and this could pick up whether you've got a cyst, which could account for your pain. This is usually done very quickly, for me it was a couple of weeks. You could also try get a trans vaginal ultrasound that might pick up a bit more.
If you have had some scans and tests and nothing has come up, this does not mean there's nothing there. Dr's can sometimes be dismissive when they've looked and not seem anything and so they'll discharge. This happened to me 2 years ago - I had an ultrasound that found 2 fibroids & a bulky retroverted uterus, which they said was all 'normal' and then had a laporoscopy which found nothing, so I was discharged, they said ibs was causing my abdominal pain and stress was causing my fatigue. But I eventually saw orthopaedics for chronic back and hip pain and they did an mri which found severe endo, I've had another mri and have been told I have a cyst too and I'm just waiting on finding out more.
When you know there is something wrong, trust yourself. I know it's so difficult to be assertive (I wasn't) but I think we need to learn to fight against this idea that women are just supposed to be in pain. We're not. You know your body and you know when something is wrong. Just keep going back to the doctor and change doctors if they don't listen (when you can). If you feel you're not happy with how you're being treated, you can contact PALS (patient advice liason service).
I'm terms of helping with the pain, I don't have any magical solutions in afraid. I don't find pain killers really help that much. The thing that helps me cope with it all is meditation. I use an app called calm. It's like exercise though, you have to practice regularly before you start to see the benefits. I think 10 mins every day and you start to see the benefit in about 2 weeks.
I also find gentle yoga really helps.
Being in pain all the time just causes us to get tense in our body and our mind which makes us feel more pain. I find the yoga and meditation helps with this. Plus the only side effect is a nice feeling of wellbeing! 😊
I hope you find some relief. X
