At the A&E

Been off sick since Thursday and I’ve now reached a new high. I am in excruciating pain and I literally cannot do anything anymore. I decided to go to the A&E since the pain is only getting worse and spreading... just went in to the triage and had the RUDEST NURSE. She kept interrupting me and wouldn’t let me say what my symptoms were or anything the second I mentioned the possibility of endometriosis. I already told her that I know they probably won’t be able to do much about it but I’m desperate at this point. She was so rude and wouldn’t listen to me. I feel so deflated and have no idea. I hoped the hospital would be the one place to take my pains seriously. Apparently I was wrong.

Hi I'm sorry to hear you are in alot of pain are you still at the hospital? I have been to a.e a few times myself with endometriosis and same as you I was in extremely bad pain and I came across a few very rude nurses and Dr's some thought I was a junkie just looking for a fix some said endometriosis didn't exist and the pain was all in my head but then I found a couple who were very understanding and listened to me I explained i couldn't get an appointment to see my own gp and I couldn't tolerate the pain anymore I also found by saying to the nurses and Dr's who were rude and spoke down to me not to speak to me like that and how would they feel if someone spoke to them that way I wasn't rude or aggressive I was calm but stuck up for myself is there someone with you who I hope you get some pain relief even if it's enough to do you until the morning and you make an emergency appointment with your own gp good luck and remember don't leave until you are satisfied and have some pain relief 💕xx

Thank you for your reply! I’ve just had my blood and urine taken but that’s it. They’ve completely ignored the mention of endometriosis and aren’t taking me seriously. I am so tired of not being listening to. x

Maybe Google endometriosis and say this is what I have and if you read the symptoms you will understand how much I'm suffering right now don't let them treat you like you aren't important because you are and you have every right to be there and to receive treatment if you have no joy then ask to speak to another dr one who will be helpful and listen to you xx

I'm so sorry you are going through this. This has happened to me a few times as well. On one occasion my partner carried me in and I was sobbing in pain, they said they couldn't find anything and I could go home and my partner kicked off. He told them I couldn't live a normal life or take care of myself because the pain was so bad. They finally started listening and I was admitted for 4 days for tests and pain management. As hard as it is don't be afraid to advocate for yourself and stand up for yourself. It's hard because they can't physically see what's wrong and tests come back normal. But you're in pain. If you come in with a broken bone or cancer they would treat you. You're pain is no different. Don't leave or go to another hospital or doctor until someone agrees to help you. It just takes one doctor to help that can make all the difference it took me 6 years, 4 surgeries and 2 procedures before someone found the cause of my symptoms after years of being told it was all in my head, I would grow out of it, I was depressed or it's cause I am a woman. Just hang in there I hope you find some relief soon xx

I was sent in by my GP because he thought I had appendicitis, I couldn't eat for a few days, had a CT scan, the consultant came to see me the next day and said no appendicitis, see how you get on. I got my discharge note and it said endometriosis I am so shocked I thought I had eradicated when I had my hysterectomy years ago. I thought I was going mad x
