I was bleeding for nearly 6 months and I had the mirena coil fitted. It was my first ever coil as I’m 48. I suffered with horrendous periods my entire life, I’ve had endometriosis on and off since my early 20’s. But now the coil hasn’t stopped the flooding so I was also put on northristorome tablets. I’ve also had the prostap injection and my hair is thinning, I’m struggling with hot sweats and migraine BUT I haven’t been able to hold in urine for the past 3 weeks. I literally end up in a pool of urine. I’m mortified and ashamed as I’ve never had any urine issues. I’m scouring the internet looking for answers. Could this be because Of the injection ?

Sorry that you’re having such a tough time. I’m 43 and have been on Prostap for over a year but with HRT add back therapy. I have always had episodes of slight incontinence but they have not really changed since the injections, if anything they may be less. I wonder if the coil or something else may be affecting your pelvic floor? Things like being too tired to do Physio exercises in my case is more likely to be the reason for my trouble than the injection. I hope you find the answers soon. Take care.
I had a Mirena Coil fitted during a hysteroscopy after being diagnosed with fibroids in January 2018. I've had very heavy periods with clotting and unbearable pain for the the last three years and my doctor told me the coil would settle my periods down or even stop them altogether. Unfortunately this didn't happen and my coil expelled itself very violently at the beginning of July. Since then I've had mild urinary incontinence which I can only assume has had something to do with either the coil or my fibroid has gotten even larger and is pressing on my bladder. My consultant offered me Zoladex/Prostap with add back HRT but I've refused due to the horrible side effects and I'm now waiting to see if I can have a hysterectomy. I'm nearly 50 and was hoping I'd soon go through menopause but it's not looking likely at the moment. I hope everything works out for you. (You're much braver than me if you're having the Prostap injections.) Good Luck x
