Laparoscopy and Prostap

Hi Everyone,

I’ve got a lot of changes coming up! I’m having my 3rd laparoscopy with excision of Endo and releasing adhesions mid May, with hope that it will help me and my husband conceive in the near future when I have recovered. However, come the start of June, I will have had a total of 48 weeks of Prostap 3DCS, so will have to wait until everything goes back to normal before trying to conceive too.

Just wondered anyone else’s experiences of what to expect when coming off Prostap and when to expect first period, etc?

Thank you xx

hi. Hope your ok. I had 6 months of prostap, was told it would take 10 -12 weeks for everything to kick back in, was 10 weeks to the day of the last injection. Due to other issues we left it a few months but are first round of ivf was successful and I'm 24 weeks now. I made sure I was eating well and kept myself fit. Hope the surgery goes to plan. Xx

Thank you for sharing and congratulations :) I thought there might be a bit of a gap between the injection wearing off and ‘normality’ resuming but wasn’t sure what to fully expect. Thank you for the good advice and hope everything goes well for the rest of your pregnancy xx

hi. Have you found the prostap ok? I found my first cycle was painful but after that it was how I imagine normal people are, only niggles and paracetamol did the job, not a hospital admission which was my normal 🙉. Have you got cysts? All the best for the surgery, give yourself plenty of time to recover. Xx

The Prostap has helped massively - I’ve still had day-to-day aches, the IBS type symptoms and nausea and I’ve been taking HRT to help with menopausal symptoms but I’ve not had the intense pain and bleeding I would endure every cycle 🤦🏻‍♀️ so I’m not looking forward to all that coming back. I don’t have cysts from what I’m aware of. I have Endo around my bowel with loops of adhesions around it, and it’s all very stuck on my right hand side and I’ve got adenomyosis too... so hopefully this surgery will help. Thank you, I’ll try my best to give plenty of time. How did you find Prostap? And how have you found pregnancy up to now?xx

hi. How are you doing? I have endometriosis on the bowel to ( beyond surgery help) but I do find following the endometriosis diet really helps and when I slip up I know about 🙉. For me the prostap was brilliant, I know it makes a lot of people poorly but it worked really well for me. I only had the odd hot flush and after the withdrawal bleed I had no pain 😊. I'm feeling well so far with the pregnancy, had a slight flair up after eating a bread roll but other than that the endometriosis is behaving. They have advised to have a planned c section so we don't end up with an emergency like the first ( we have a nearly 8 year old to, specialist called her are miracle he didn't understand how she got through 🙉). When is your operation? Xx

Heyyy, having a few tired days at the minute but have been very busy with work.

Yeah I agree that diet does really help, however I’m not always good 🙈 I have quite a sweet tooth. Glad your pregnancy is going well and have the c section plan - I’m sure it’s put you at ease knowing that it should go to plan with no worries 😊

My operation is on 15th May, I had my pre-op the other day and they’ve put it down as a day case which I’m not sure about as last time I ended up being in hospital for two days due to complications and swelling. I explained this to the pre-op nurse and she didn’t seem concerned 🤷🏻‍♀️ It would be nice to be out the same day - I like home comforts! Just hope it goes smoothly xx

hi. How are you doing? I was only supposed to be with for a night but ended up being 4, they will keep you if they think you're best there. I found the staff all lovely and someone from the team of surgeons came to see me every day. Have you got some peppermint tea or something similar? Helps with the gas pain from the keyhole surgery. I also took a book and some colouring and snacks I know I can eat as hospital food doesn't always agree with me. Also take a dressing gown, I didn't bother but needed one.

yes I used to have a very sweet tooth but as most things bring on pain in not as fussed as I used to be! Yes the planned c-section will hopefully make it a calmer birth, the hospital in going to is the hospital I had my bsge surgery in so they will liaise with the endometriosis people so they have help on standby if needed. Where is your operation? Hope your having a good weekend 😊. Xx

Hey, sorry I’ve not replied - it’s been a busy couple of weeks. I had my operation on Wednesday and came home the same day (the nurse seemed quite lax and not very good communicating and couldn’t make her minds up whether she wanted to keep me or not, which made me a bit edgy being under her care so I just wanted to go home) My consultant said it all went well and managed to remove all the Endometriosis and separate the adhesions. I think I’ve managed to get rid of all the gas with peppermint tea. Just trying to balance medication and pain control and not interfering too much with bowels (sorry!)

Glad everything is organised and planned for little ones arrival xx

Hi I had 3 laps with same procedures as u, I was on prostap for 6 months. It took about a month after for my period to come back. I had stage 4 nd everything was a mess, my ovaries were stuck together nd they were stuck to my bowel nd the whole sorry mess was stuck to my pelvis. So unfortunately I have only a 2% chance of falling pregnant naturally. We are going to adopt and we go to approval panel on Monday. Hopefully everything will be OK for you. Xx
