Have you had a bad experience with lupron... - Endometriosis UK
Have you had a bad experience with lupron or something to to put your body into a chemical menopause?
Hi Chezzle01,
I’ve just had a consultation and my doctor wants me to try the medication that puts me into early menopause for 4 months to see if all my pains from Endometriosis go away. If the pains go away then he believes it indicates that my Endometriosis has returned and I may need surgery again.
He didn’t tell me the name of the medication though and he just asked me to research it but I don’t know what I’m researching. Is this the medication you’re talking about? If so, what happened when you took it? If you don’t mind me asking. Thanks x
Hi,
I've just refused to use Zoaldex as recommended by my consultant to shrink my fibroid. I did a lot of research into this drug and the side effects were way too scary for me. I am now waiting to see if they will give me the go ahead for a hysterectomy. I'm nearly 50 and the fibroid is causing the most debilitating, heavy and painful periods.
I am in the same situation as you and start zoladex in September.
Hysterectomy does not cure endo and there a lot of women who have had great success with zoladex.
A hysterectomy is huge and you and I are in a very weak state due to the endo being so severe.
Personally, I don't have the strength for major surgery.
Please do not read the scare stories about zoladex as all medication has side effects.
You might have 6 months of relief on zoladex then be able to take cerazette after.
I am going to give it a go for a month and if I don't like it not continue.
I wish you all the best as this is a truly awful condition.
Stay strong!
How are you disabled after using zoladex?
How long were you taking this?
This comment will really scare people with severe end looking for treatment options.
Some people have great success with zoladex and have 6 months of normal life.
Not every drug works for everyone and all drugs have side effects.
There are so many people with no medical background criticising drugs that could help a lot of people.
hi chezzle01, i would like to join your group
I was put on prostap August 2019 for a huge fibroid and a complete hysterectomy. I had 0nce a month dose twice. Then two big doses lasting three months till next one. Had hysterectomy back in May 2020. Im absolutely stiff in back hips and shoulders and knees. It gets me at night turning over in bed. I really feel for you. I hope you get sorted very soon. X
