Phew, after the shock of also being diagnosed with adenomyosis alongside my long standing deep infiltrating endo, polyps and fibroids I am now thinking a lot clearer.
At the moment the plan is surgery in 2 weeks with insertion of mirena. Unfortunately when I tried the mirena a few years ago it didn't work for me so am I bit hesitant to try it again but know I need to try something. I wondered if anyone had tried the progesterone only pill to try and manage their adenomyosis?
Many thanks all 😊😊

Hi Moodle214, I have adeno alongside endo which was found in my last lap (spongy uterus). I took the progesterone-only pill for about a year. It did improve things, my periods were not so heavy and pain was less. However, I did have a lot of spotting that lasted months at a time. I ended up changing to Utrogestan which is a bio-identical progesterone which was a bit better than the progesterone-only pill but my consultant was more concerned about the osteoporosis risk with this. I am now on a waiting list for a hyst. Everyone is different, you may have a better experience than me with the above hormone treatment. I am now on Decapeptyl injections which are even better for me- no more spotting and substantially reduced pain but only recommended for 6 months due to bone thinning/osteoporosis risk. I am on them whilst waiting for a hyst which is a very last resort of many years of trying numerous treatments and 4 laps, I am now 43 and feel ready for it. I never tried the mirena coil though, concerned it wouldn't work. Best to go with your instinct and explore what is right for you as everyone responds differently, wish you all the bestx
I have adeno and I'm on the POP. I'm still only a few packs in, but I'm personally struggling with the side effects. My uterus has swollen and is pressing on my bladder, and I have spotting daily. That said, I'm better off pain/bleeding wise than I was, and it has worked for a lot of people in the adeno support group I'm part of. The best thing about trying the pop is that it can be changed more easily than the mirena. X
