Trouble breathing

Hi everyone.

I have asthma but since stopping smoking 2 years ago I have no symptoms. I was diagnosed with endo by a general gynea 2 years ago who lasered off what he found and discharged me. I’m having surgery in two weeks with a specialist.

My symptoms have progressed and I spend 90 % of my time in pain and extremely tired. Over the last couple of months Iv noticed its becoming harder to take a deep breath . I have no symptoms of s cold or infection no coughing or fever. In certain positions it is impossible to fully inflate my lungs. Has anyone else had this problem?

Hi Holley. Are you on any hormone treatment? Or strong painkillers? Codeine, tramadol etc? I have asthma and since starting smoking (yep, idiot!) I've noticed these affect my breathing. Well done on quitting smoking. I'm wondering whether pain meds could be exacerbating your asthma. If you're on any hormone meds I would speak to your dr asap. Xx

I’m on the pill, and in pain meds but have been on both for years x

If you're on the combined pill I would definitely get your breathing checked out with x-ray's, scan etc. It's very rare as I'm sure you know but I'd want to get the all clear re tests for blood clots. It's most likely your asthma of course but I'd get checked out properly to be sure. What is your GP saying and does the difficulty ease after taking Ventolin? I was on the combined pill for 5 years and then suddenly developed high blood pressure from it which I've been left with for the rest of my life. GPs often seem to think if you're going to have a reaction to the pill it will happen in the first few months but that wasn't the case with me. I don't mean to worry you but I'd get the breathing checked with X-ray etc for peace of mind. If you've noticed no correlation between your breathing becoming worse after you've taken pain meds then I'm guessing it's unlikely to be the cause. If you already have severe endo I'd want to be checked out for thoracic endo to make sure it hasn't spread to the lungs. Very rare but some people on here do have it. Xx

I just wanted to say sorry to reply with a list of scary possibilities and no suggestions of something simple and less scary. I know it's hard enough coping with this disease and don't want to panic you but I would definitely get properly checked as y'know, breathing is pretty essential. It may well be something completely unrelated is exacerbating your asthma but best to get thoroughly investigated. Take care xx

I have surgery in 2 weeks. I fought for it because they seem to think the pain isn’t from endo that Iv already been diagnosed with! I don’t want anything to get in the way of it lol x

Sorry I've only just seen this. Do mention the breathing to your gp and surgeon in advance of your surgery. I doubt surgeons search for endo as high up as the lungs if they don't know you have symptoms as it's rare. God it's so frustrating we have to fight for investigative surgery even after a diagnosis. I hope it goes very well and you get some answers regarding the pain xx
