At a loss

Well after patiently waiting and just putting up with the pains, swelling and belly button actually bursting the second gynae appt I’ve been hoping for after 5 months which should have only been 3 months has been cancelled three days before it was due without any explanation at all, so now they expect me to wait a further 3 months, 8 months in total from my 1st consultation I am honestly at a loss as to what I’m supposed to do next, even the staff I’ve managed to speak to st the hospital are amazed at the time I’ve had to wait, they’ve kindly emailed the consultant I was supposed to be booked in with to see if he can find any way to fit me into his clinic to been seen ASAP, it’s utterly ridiculous has anyone else had this trouble and if so how did you go about getting seen 😢

Hi Sami, which hospital is that? Never heard of an appointment being cancelled ( and without explanation?) Very weird.. You must follow up with the staff but there is a formal way to complain.. Though I think you should ask your GP to chase them, I did the same when I got discharged for no reason.. unacceptable and very dangerous to leave you like that..xx

Hiya it’s at our main hospital in Swindon, absolutely shocking to have to wait this long for an appointment in the first place let alone it be cancelled with no explanation ... thankfully the hospital have just called me after me speaking to a lovely lady for the last two days who emailed the consultant who’s clinic I was supposed to be put under tonstsrt off with he’s given me appointment a week Monday now although not holding out much hope for them to actually do anything anytime soon considering the state the appointments are in x

That sounds awful. I would contact PALS at the hospital you should have been seen at they will be able to sort this out they usually are good.

Hope you get an appointment soon. Xxx

Hi Samid76 you replied to my post a few minutes ago but for some reason I can’t view it :(

I’m sorry to hear your appointment was cancelled, was it a follow up after treatment?

Do you mind me asking what consultant you have been seeing at the GWH? I’m being seen there but waiting for a diagnostic lap - I was told I was being put on the urgent list but still not heard anything. I was told that my consultants waiting list was rather long but they didn’t tell me how long I would be waiting!

I’ve been seen at the Shalbourne suite - it’s the private wing but i was referred through NHS and am being treated on the NHS just being seen at Shalbourne.

Hope you get on ok with your appointment when you get to see the consultant

Oh no wonder why you can’t view it ... I’ve not actually been allocated a consultant yet .. I had my first appt in February after chasing the hospital yet again and ended up with a cancellation appt which was lucky, the consultant incas supposed to see was off sick so ended up seeing a registrar, he was lovely but he couldn’t understand me and I couldn’t understand him so it was very frustrating, he confirmed that I had umbilical endometriosis but because we are trying for another baby he didn’t want to push me for surgery as where i have endo is so rare they really don’t know what to do with it. He was supposed to put me under dr griffiths clinic for a follow up within 3 months if I hadn’t fallen pregnant, which inunfortunately haven’t. My appt however wasn’t 3 months it was 5 months and was scheduled for Monday 11th June but they cancelled it this Wednesday and nobody has any clue as to why. The lovely ladies i have spoken to since emailed dr griffiths who has placed me under his clinic at the gwh with one of his consultants i cannot remember his name, they’re apparently getting a letter out to me today so will let you know, I hope you manage to get your date soon definitely worth chasing them though, it seems that sitting and patiently waiting doesn’t actually do you any favours x

Oh dear sounds like a nightmare!! Did you get your letter today? I was seen a month ago (for my initial appointment) by Dr Griffiths and was really pleased with the appointment, I definitely felt listened to just annoying have to wait now to hear sometbing - I think I’ll take your advice and maybe call them on Monday to find out What sort of wait I’m in for - they did phone me last week to say that he has a long waiting list for the diagnostic lap which I don’t mind just would be good to have some sort of idea as to how many months that’s likely to be.

Good luck with your appointments hope you get some answers!

Yup I got my appointment letter yesterday I am seeing a female consultant who looks pretty good so fingers crossed, yeah I couldn’t get an appointment with dr griffiths until September so he definitely has a long waiting list, I know a few people that have been treated by him and he definitely knows his stuff I’d be happy to see him or someone he refers you to. Good luck hopefully they get you a date soon x
