Gabapentin Experiences?

Hello ladies!

Anyone have any experience with the effectiveness of gabapentin as a pain killer? I’ve just been switched from codeine to try and avoid its side effects and have a more effective painkiller. Hope you are having a good day x

Hi,

I'm on gabapentin and morphine for my pain. My dose of gabapentin has been slowly increasing since an unsucessful nerve block.

I have found that the gabapentin is now starting to work well. I do have some strange side effects from it but everyone is different.

Iv been on gab for about 18months now it does work with my degenerate disk disease but not endo x

Im on pregabalin which is the same class as gabapentin. Ive had a very good experience, but only quite gradually. You cant dial it up and down quickly and a high dose was no better than a medium dose, but over time it has definitely dampened down nerve responses. Codeine and morphine tend to sensitize people to pain so arent ideal for chronic pain sufferers. I found retrainpain.org a very good site explaining how pain works. Good luck with it.
