Does anyone experience this at ovulation (it's a bit TMI!)

OK so this is a bit of an unpleasant question... For many years now at the middle of my cycle I pass a large amount of very thick, clear 'stuff'. It's like a jelly consistency. It's always really painful, like I can feel it working is way down through tubes for the couple of days before it comes out. And is just on my right side I feel this, where is imagine my ovary is. I told the nurse about it once when I had my smear test and she was quite dismissive saying everyone's cycle is different so I felt a bit embarrassed and haven't mentioned it since. I got an app to track my cycle and I realised its when I'm ovulating this happens.

I've just been diagnosed with severe endometriosis and I'm trying to look at the various things I experience in a different light and I wondered if this was 'normal' or if it had anything to do with the endo.

Is this something all women experience but no one talks about or is it a symptom of something?

Thanks!

Hi,

I too have this although mine isn't ovualtion related as I am in chemical menopause and still get it. (So you are not alone at least ☺)

I was told once very much the same as you that all women have it and its nothing to worry about. 😕

I always find it hard with endo though to actually know what is 'normal' and what is 'endo'. Like for years when I was a teenager I thought everyones period pains were like mine and it was only when me and a close friend were talking when we happened to be on our period at the same time that I even realised that my pain wasnt normal. I think there are so many little things that as a woman we arent told and are expected to find out that it is no wonder endo goes for so long not diagnosed.

I would be interested to find out what other people say about this though.

Xxx

It just shows how little all this is talked about really. Even amongst women, we don't really have open conversations just so we can make sure we're healthy and realise when something is off. So thankful for this forum!

Thanks for replying

There may be two issues; the clear stuff is the change in consistency of your mucus around ovulation to make you more receptive - it can for some women go from being slightly runny to thicker and clearer to really runny just after. Some women notice it some women don't. That change is dependent on hormones.

The ovulation pain is a medical condition that some women get - Mittelschmerz - German for "middle pain" - it's where during the middle of your cycle you experience pain, thus related to ovulation. Some women report they can feel the egg being released and travelling down the fallopian tubes. It can be related to endo if it's on the ovary or on the fallopian tubes, or they're stuck with scar tissue.

That's really helpful thanks. Maybe I've got a bit of all that you mentioned going on. I really do feel something moving down. I've just thought I was imagining it. I was a bit overwhelmed when I was told about the endo as it was a huge shock so I can't really remember all the places they said it was but I do remember him saying 'tubes' and that they couldn't find my ovaries so maybe it's more painful because of all that. I've been experiencing that pain for about 10 years too. I've been fobbed off for so long.
