Does anyone know if flying (short flight) has any impact on endometriosis? Because Iv just come back from a holiday in Bulgaria (from England) I had terrible pain and fatigue on the holiday but today 12 hours after flying my whole body is in excruciating pain like a severe flair 😓

This is really interesting. Every time I've gone on holiday, on day 2 I always get the worst pains/illness. I always wake up shouting the night with awful pains, my and shivering and feeling sick, sometimes I am sick. The next day, I'm completely fatigued and then I usually recover after that. At first I thought I kept getting food poisoning but then it started to seem a bit unlikely considering I always went to different places and it was just regular holiday resorts and I never drink the water etc. I then had 2 holidays to France where I went on train and didn't have any issues then last month went on a plane again and day 2, again with pains and fatigue.

I've only just been diagnosed with severe endo and it has been on my mind wondering if there was a connection but I couldn't figure it out. Seeing you wrote this post made me think wait a minute, maybe it is a thing!

I have no idea what could cause it. I dint have many of the typical endo symptoms. My periods are not an issue at all. For me it's awful fatigue and hip and back pain. I do get abdominal pain & severe bloating too but that's less regular.

Do you have any theories?

I'm an anxious flyer so had wondered if it was related to the stress of flying. It is very weird though.

I thought perhaps it was the pressure? The cabin pressure? X

I do think its linked!!! I thought it was the cabin pressure too! I'm not so bad with short flights but I've found Iong flights are incredibly uncomfortable for me when I'm on it and then a few days after too. I do always feel fatigued after flying no matter what the distance but I haven't figured out if that's exhaustion from travelling and being busy or if it's endo. I always make sure I have a few days after a holiday before going back to work so I'm fully recovered haha!

I never struggled with flying until I had my lap. All flights since have caused flare ups. Even less than 1 hour up to Scotland, when I flew to Spain I struggled to stand in the airport waiting for luggage I was getting so much pulling pain I couldn't straighten up. I have read somewhere that travel sickness tablets may help as some contain mild relaxants in them but I need to do more research. I fly to Ibiza in Sept and I'm nervous already, not about the flying itself but the pain ☹

Would make sense, even short flights can interfere with menstrual cycles and affect levels of bleeding etc.

I can honestly say that flying does affects Endometriosis! I am a Disabled Air Force Veteran and while on the plane to Germany (years ago), my appendix burst due to having stage 4 endometriosis and the cabin pressure changes to our bodies. Also, please see this post from Health Unlocked from 4 years ago...

I had read this before posting to see if there was any recent experiences. I didn’t bleed tho just extreme pain and fatigue. It’s been 5 days since I flown and the pain is still here and painful x

Wow. This is blowing my mind! It's not just when I've got my period though. I suspect I've got quite a lot going on inside me though (I dint know where my endo is, just that it's severe) I've also got a few large fibroids and I wonder if when things expand sure to the pressure, it just sets things off for me. I do need to go to the toilet A LOT during a flight but I'd always put that down to nerves as I don't like flying. But this actually makes a lot more sense. It's crazy the things I've just diagnosed over the years and now I've found out I have endo, it is all making sense.

I not sure what the solution to it all is though!
