Flying with endo

So I carefully planned the dates that would be safe to fly to Cyprus. On flight going out had bad pains but on return flight I had horrendous pains and then passed out. Now its my normal cycle pain which is awful. Has anyone else experienced increased pain on flights? I was lucky the air hostess understood being a sufferer herself, led me down and made me a hot water bottle bless her...go easyjet!

In 2016, I was on my period flying for the very first time - a 10 hour flight to Florida 😱 It felt like hell on earth pain wise, that’s for sure xx

I was told I would be fine going on holiday to Malta a week after my lap. With it being my first one I took my specialists word but the flight there and back was horrendous. It was only a 3 hour flight but a combination of endo pain and a healing laparoscopy was terrible, I don't know why they told me it it would be fine :/

I was told I could be back to work in a day or two. I needed three weeks to recover. It’s so difficult to know what to believe!

Tell me about it! I went straight back to work after my holiday, so 2 weeks total after my lap. I didn't feel ready but I don't do a physically strenuous job so managed with pain killers and trips to the loo to curl over in pain in private!

A day or two? So sorry you had such poor advice!

Thank you. He was not a good gynaecologist and I don’t think the surgery he performed was particularly helpful to me either! Hoping for better this time round!

I can't believe you were told you could go on holiday just a week after a lap! That's shocking!!! I could have managed it 4 weeks after. Not before.

I had terrible pain which started the morning we were due to fly. It was like mid-labour. I don’t know how I made it to the airport I was in so much pain but was determined to fly. It took 4 days of my holiday before I was anywhere near getting back to normal and I still had bouts of extreme shooting pain for a week or two after. And my belly blew up and went hard for some time. I now know I have endo tho didn’t at the time. I believe flying did make things worse for me as that was the worst episode I’ve had to date. I’ve flown since though but didn’t have major pain to start with and it’s been fine x

Hi I don’t have increased pain but I do start to bleed once I get off the flight. It then lasts a few days and I am so bloated it’s unreal x
