I had my wound checked yesterday after a fear of it been infected a nurse looked it and said it looked fine. I’m 3 weeks post now

It’s sore now. A little bit red but I don’t know if it’s rubbing on my clothes as the stitch is still there. I think I’m partly over worrying and getting anxiety about it. Not sure if it’s best to keep it covered or leave it to air..

I guess the only reason I’m worried is because it feels sore and it is more red compared to the others but it was always the worse one from day one...

What would you do?

I've had 5 operations hun and that looks ok to me but I'm not a doctor, if you've had it checked out though and the nurse said it's fine then I can't see it been infected. Don't cover it just leave it to air but you're right it could be your clothing irritating the stitch so maybe try to keep it uncovered as best as you can

I think it’s my anxiety going through the roof to be honest :( just awful.

I think the stitch is rubbing against my clothes

Did they say how long you need to keep them in for?

I think you're doing all the right NHS. Just keep a watchful eye on it and if it changes, just go back to the nurse.

I only had one incision but mine looked way worse than that at week 3. I could barely look at it and even now 2 years on I can't touch it 🤢 Mine was through my belly button and belly buttons in general make me feel a bit funny.

It's normal to worry. Our minds can go to some pretty far out places! 😂

I had an infection after a week and it definitely doesn't look infected to me. Always good to get it checked though. I found that my wounds healed with the cream they gave me - fusidic acid. I used this and am 6 week post lap and they're almost faded. My stiches came out around 3.5 weeks post lap. I just wore the baggiest clothes until it felt better to touch. Maybe look at a cream to help with the healing process. x

I actually had the same issue, rubbing on clothes so I actually put a light dressing over it whilst I was at work and then off whilst at home.

This didn't cause any problems for me from doing so either.

One of my wounds still gets abit sore now and again and I am 8 months post op. It’s definately because it rubs on clothes and things and when I’m cold it seems to be itchy and sore x
