Finally a diagnosis

Hi all. Finally had a diagnosis at laparoscopy today. Had surgery for lap, cystoscopy, hysteroscopy and tubal assessment. Found endo behind bladder and uterus. Also found both tubes totally blocked. They took away the endo they found. Thats all i know at the moment. Waiting for more info when dr comes round. Wierdly relieved to have a diagnosis for all the pain i was in as was super anxious that it was all in my head. Confused as to what exactly is blockinh my tubes...if there is anythig they can do about it...how i managed to get pregnant and miscarry 2 years ago...but for now i have some answers at least. Thanks to all for their support this group has been an amazing source of support for me. Anyone have any idea how long i will need off work to recover? They are total slave drivers.

Yay on finding out what's been wrong!

It's good that they took away the endo they could find. Tubes blocked means no eggs can get through from ovaries to uterus, it may have been that two years ago it wasn't as severe and so you managed to get pregnant. Unfortunately with endo miscarriages are more common; but there are still some amazing positive stories.

I'm sure they'll discuss what the blocked tubes means to you and then hopefully you can have a think about what you'd like to do going forward; just remember some things happen for a reason, we may not always know the reason, but if stuff happens, we push through and come out the other side a better more positive person - just my spiritual point of view.

The doc when he / she comes round should give you more info about what they didn - my specialist was my surgeon so that helped immensely with explaining. You'll be given a sick note for time off work dependent on how the doctors feel with regards to what they did in the op. I think the standard seems to be 2 weeks, you can self certify for up to 7 days (legally) after this - google this "Employee’s statement of sickness to claim Statutory Sick Pay" on the Government website (most GP surgeries will have one too - or the hospital), this is for over 4 days which work has to agree to. After 7 days self certifying you'll need a sick note (GP will do the additional one).

Nurses will give you your sick note just before you leave, don't forget to check it before you go in-case you need to clarify anything, or ask anything. - it's difficult to get it amended after. Mine said 14 days from the date of the op and just said "op" in details. so I needed to check what 14 days meant, I actually came back to work a day early, whoops.

Take as long as you need off!! I had a diagnostic lap last May and they told me I had to take two weeks off. But I still felt sore up to four weeks but went back after two as it was an office job.

Isn't it weird when they tell you they found something.. I remember crying my eyes out when the consultant told me they found it. She kept saying 'don't worry we've got rid of it' but I was crying because I was happy i finally had an answer as to why I was in pain and it showed all the GPs I had seen within ten years a 🖕 after they blamed every symptom I had on the wrong contraception! Take it easy and don't strain yourself to get back to work ASAP! X
