Stupid question; not sure how to grade level of pain.

Hi ladies and thank you for the useful information; the questionnaire has been very helpful 😁

I’m looking at the pain chart and am unsure of my level; at the worst times it is so painful I cannot move , feels like labour contractions ( I have had a child) , all I can do is pant and breathe through it till it eventually passes. I don’t pass out. Where would you scale that on 1-10? I don’t want to make it sound worse than it is. xoxo

Hi Jess

Do you feel labour is the worse pain you've endured? 😘💖

I think it is as I can’t talk or do anything when it’s happening xoxo oh to have “normal “ periods 🙄 xoxo

So that's your 10 just put 9/10 hun it's awful. Yes it would be wonderful to have normal periods such a dream. 🙄 My worst pain was ovulation when my tubes were blocked that's the only pain that's brought me to tears and on my knees , I once said to hubby I'd pick labour contractions over this any day but I only got to 7 cm before I had to have a section so I don't know any worse than that. 😘💝

Thank you. Horrible the pain is so debilitating such a awful disease 😭 I thought it might be high as it is really bad you know what’s it’s like start doubting yourself it could be so bad. I would also choose labour over this pain; at least you have something precious at the end 💝xoxo

Always remeber a pain scale is what's your worst pain you've had is classed as 9.10 don't worry about others they don't feel what you feel. Even though we suffer the same condition my 10 could be your 5 it's just the fact we're all different and feel pain differently that's why they ask us how do we scale it.

I'm with you there labour so much worth it.

😘💝

If you google pain descriptions 1-10 you will find definitions. I printed this out and really thought about it and circled my ranges and took this to my consultant appointment.

Below is what is used:

I use this pain scale

workthedream.files.wordpres...

The way I like to think of it is

0 - No pain

4 - maximum amount of pain you can have and function normally

8 - minimum amount of pain it take to incapacitate you

It's important to tell medical professional how the pain affects you and what it is worse than. If you say it's like labor it's at least an 8/10.

Hi Jess

I always hated having to rank my pain as it's so subjective however I would always say to rank it at least an 9 if not a 10 in any endo meeting otherwise you tend to get fobbed off!

I know you've had surgery previously and are pretty experienced in this already but as women we tend to downplay when we are in agony which means our pain can be ignored.

I always 'scored' myself around around 6/7ish at the GPs etc as I thought 10 was heart attack! This meant I was just given stronger ibuprofen however when my husband came in with me to see a Consultant he was angry I'd stated 7 & told him I was a 10 as during my period I was unable to move & was screaming in agony, which was true. I then got taken seriously & sent for surgery!

I wish I'd been less conservative with my numbers - and had my hubby with me for more appointments. Frustratingly medical professionals seemed to take him more seriously than me! :-(

Thank you; yes you are right us ladies do like to look like we are coping well.

Glad I’m not the only who hates “pain scaling “ I was worried about looking like I was over reacting.

Thanks for the advice definitely helpful! 😀

Hope the surgery went well and symptoms and pain are better xoxo

period is here; and I’m reminded why this appointment is so important and remember how severe the pain actually is ( mine is at its worse at my period) Sometimes it’s manageable and I tell myself it’s not as bad as I think. So I’m glad the period is here so I will give an honest and true reflection of level of pain and symptoms. 💗
