Hi louby

Ive been suffering with constant pain for a yr in left side hip/ upper and lower groin..cant sleep on that side...had ct scans x rays ..thought it was diverticulitis so was put on antibiotics..made me worse..numerous pain killers from codien to tramadol...my perids are just starting to get erratic im on day 42 and still no period although ive got the feelings of cramps ect..im permanantly with a hot water bottle ..its more for comfort than anything else..the doctor has now put me on amitryprilin to help with sleep and hopefully the pain..but may take a few weeks to start kicking in..making me feel bit groggy at mo but helping me sleep a bit better...still no formal diagnosis tho..very frustrating as to whats causing the pain..the focs just seem at a loss as to what the problem is...just keep trying to mask the pain!

I’m sorry to hear that you are struggling with the pain, have they not offered you a laparoscopy to see what’s going on inside?

I have my 2nd on Monday so hopefully I’ll get to the bottom of what is going on! I’ve been taken tramadol but not really getting in with it but I’m the same it hurts to sleep on my side. I’m hoping I sleep tonight as four nights without any sleep is taking its toll!

Hi Louby

I really feel for you its bad enough the constant daily pain but when it effects your sleep as well its no joke! Ive been exactly the same..constantly trying toget a comfortable position..it can be like toothache..i too have tried tramadol and i didnt get on with it...i went to Aand E last friday in pain and the dictor there put me on amitripyline and advised me to go back to my gp..im going back to the docs yet again tomoz ive mentioned the endometriosis on numerous visits but it seems to get ignored...its been over a yr now and am really getting depressed ..i feel like a broken record keep going on about it to family ..its not fair on them ..just frustrating not getting to the bottom of it ..just hope these amitripyline start to work soon..good luck for monday i really hope they find the cause of all your pain..fingers crossed for you x

It can be so depressing when no one understands what is happening to you, especially when you don’t have the support from your GP.

I found that my GP ignored me so I ended up paying to see someone privately, and was then diagnosed after my first lap. It was worth the money as i was back and forward to the gp over an 8 yr period before that!

I used to take amitripyline and they were great at helping me sleep until I started to get hallucinations :( hope they do the trick for you! Good luck with doctors tomorrow! x

Hi Louby sorry for the late reply😔 how did your lap go?hope you got some answers...i went to the gp came out with 3months supply of amitripylin!..all he said was pretty much we all get aches and pains!seemed quite disinterested...think i may have to go down the same route as you have with the private consultant..best wishes and hope your sleeping better x

Hey, my lap went reasonably well thank you. I ended up staying in hospital two nights but was very well looked after. Had some complications weeing afterwards so they had to put a catheter in which was soooo painful due to the swelling and I then ended up with a urine infection (just finished antibiotics).

But the surgeon removed my old endo, found some new behind my left ovary and removed that and found that my bowel and uterus were slightly joined together (I guess from adhesions), so freed it up.

Been very tired and dizzy the last week but feeling much better now, actually going to attempt to go back to work tomorrow!

That’s shame that the doctor dismissed you so easily, my advice would be to look for a endometriosis specialist and book a private appointment so that they will take you seriously.

He/she can then always refer you back to the nhs for the lap for further investigation.

Hope you get some answers soon, good luck xxx

Never had a colonoscopy, but yeah my Bowel does play up, and I get quite windy around the time of my period. I’m trying to have flaxseed every day to help with constipation. I have endo very near my bowel so it could just be that irritating it.

I’m just concerned that somethings is wrong with the left ovary as the pains seem to be in that area front and back.

Hi. Sorry to hear it's so uncomfortable for you. I had similar pain with ovulation. It could last a day or two, but sometimes several days. It would start with the pain by the hip and end with what felt like real bladder irritation and bloating. Does it alternate sides?

Hi, thank you for your reply, and sorry for the late reply, I had my lap last week so I’ve been recovering.

Turns out the endo was also behind my left ovary which makes sense why I was getting so much pain on my left side around that area!

Hopefully removing all of the endo will now keep me symptom free for a while. Watch this space x
