Bloody exspensive

I’m form nz so you would have to change currency and no one seems to really use the Nz page. But, for those of you have my knowledge about the real cost of this op I am having a Tutsi hysterectomy plus bilateral salpingectomies plus endo removal. The estimated cost for this is close to $17,500 nz dollars. Initially I was told $12,000. Is this way too much

that equates to about 6,000 ish or 9,000 GPB, the upper end sounds a bit much; is it just for the op? Does it include hospital, surgeon, anaesthetist etc?

I had my op privately here in the UK for diagnostic laparaoscopy, removal of endometriosis, hysteroscopy and biopsies; it cost me around £4500 that includes surgeon fees, hospital fee, aneaesthatist fee and post op consultation. - Yours does have a bit more delicate stuff going on.

Are they doing the hysterectomy because of endo? Or other things? Or personal?

Hysterectomy, partial (just uterus) or complete (uterus, cervix and ovaries) or oophorectomy (spelling? removal of ovaries) will not ever stop endo, there is no cure, it will reduce the symptoms but because you're a woman with female hormones it will still be there and can grow - it can also create it's own oestrogen. Sadly doctors push for it as a cure :(

Because of endo and adeno

Sounds comparable to UK prices to me. You can look up on the websites of UK endo specialists and private hospitals (like Spire, BMI) what they charge for operations.

I had endo excision with ovarian cystectomy and some extra fertility tests and the whole package cost me about £7k. The best money I've ever spent as results were excellent.

Hey. I was diagnosed in NZ with stage 3 endo and told I need surgery asap. At first I was told it would be $12k but then it went up to $20k (for non resident). That was just for the initial surgery for them to look around in there too. It’s crazy expensive in NZ but their health care system is amazing. Best care I’ve ever received.

Hope that helps a little!

Good luck x

Yea thanks. I was told 12k and if I travelled 8hours for it instead of 45 minutes it would be cheaper so guess bit annoyed. Thankyou
