Hi all😊

Has anyone got advice on pain control.

For two years my doctors can't seem to find the right medication for me.

From going on the pill and having the coil fitted I have tried zapain, mefenamic acid, naproxen, tramadol and amitriptyline.

None of these are working for me apart from making me feel drowsy/groggy even more😔

I'm still in pain every day 😢

The doctor says that he has tried everything and is not sure what else to suggest that it may be a case of going back to drawing board.

He mentioned gamapentin.

Has anyone else tried this??

I just wish there was an easy solution to the pain

I'm not on gabapentin but am on the same class of drug but one called pregabalin. They both treat central or functional pain caused by the pain management system in your brain overreacting due to chronic pain.

I'm finding it beneficial for sleep and anxiety and haven't had many side effects for once . It seems to dampen down the constant buzzing in my limbs though I'm not free of the sensations entirely. I also seemed to suffer a little less on my period this month.

It's apparently beneficial over time in contrast to opiate painkillers which tend to worsen pain over time.

But I'm not your standard endo case and everyone is unique when it comes to drugs anyway.

Other non drug things that help me are meditation breathing and an antinflammatory diet.

Good luck xx

Thanks Starry

I've made changes to my diet.

But still trial and error with pain management.

Just finding it so frustrating.

I feel for you xx

With me its less about pain but all about fatigue which is all encompassing and left me unable to work more than a few hours a day even 7 months after my excision. It's utterly incapacitating and I am at my wits end.

I used to suffer badly with fatigue but now I'm in pain every day. I struggle to sit/stand and walk. The doc asked me try amitryptiline but that just makes me groggy (admittedly it helps me sleep) but once I'm awake and up the pain is there.

Like you there is no guarantee each day whether I'd be fit for work but I hate being at home and not doing anything.

Yes amitriptiline just sedated me too much when I tried it too x I've been climbing the walls at home as well, I live rurally with a long commute which hasn't helped . It's scarey how my career has just gone down the toilet, I'm just praying I will be able to make half time hours.

I really hope that the gabapentin can help you. Perhaps you can ask your doctor for a referral to the specialist chronic pain management clinic for more support in coping with the pain?

Take care of you xx

I would ask to be referred to a pain specialist.
