Endo Ablation??

Hi I have been finally seen by gynaecologist and he has recommended an ablation to help with heavy periods and pain. I wondered if anyone had had this procedure and could give me an idea of aftercare and recovery. Thanks

Hello. I had one done 12 months ago - I posted yesterday about it. I don’t think it’s worked. I’m in constant pain. Please think it through carefully. Search ablation on this forum and you will see other people’s experiences

I found this : hersfoundation.com/docs/Abl...

And it describes exactly what I’m going through towards the end of my first year. I wish I hadn’t had it done. Now I fear my only choice is hysterectomy.

I’m 44 and sterilised with three grown up children. I had originally been told I’d probably need a hysterectomy but now seen gynae who said he’d prefer an ablation - dependent on scan. I’ve tried pills, injections and UTIs so not a lot of options left. 🙄

I’m 42 and have a 14 year old. I had originally asked for a hysterectomy and was talked into an ablation. It’s such a horrid horrid disease. All I will say is I’m in more pain now than I was before the ablation. I feel like I’m in labour and can’t walk. The ablation has totally stoked the bleeding but the pain is worse. It’s utterly depressing and I really hope you get a positive outcome. Lots of love x

Thanks so much for your input I think I’ll get a second gynae opinion and see what happens. X

I certainly would not recommend. I had one done 4 years ago worst thing ever the pain is terrible every day now it does ease the bleeding the pain is terrible and if you research it states that it should not be done for endo sufferers good luck babe

I wish someone had warned me not to do it 😞

ME TOO BUT IF WE CAN STOP OTHERS GOING DOWN THE SAME ROUTE IT WILL BE A BLESSING SOME OF THESE GYNOS NEED SHOOTING THEY HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH PAIN THEY ARE CAUSING MESSING WITH THINGS THEY HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT

I had the ablation done 5 years ago September gone, for 3 months after I was in and out of the hospital, on high dose antibiotics for the 3 months, on the Christmas Eve I had emergency hysterectomy due to septicaemia, would never recommend anyone having this done for anyone with endometriosis x

HI, I had this done a couple of years ago. It depends what you are hoping to achieve from it?

I found it stopped the heavy bleeding but did nothing for the pain whatsoever. This was still the same.

Hope this helps somewhat.
