Post lap question....

Hi ladies I had my first lap 3 weeks ago this coming Monday, I’m back at work scabs have come away and looking great (as great as can be).

I had my copper coil swapped for a mirena and have ovulated since which just resulted in normal period cramps (guessing it was ovulation as it was 9 days before next period due which is the day it happens every month but usually in excruciating pain and a horrible pressure feeling) so I’m feeling happy about that.. however, the pain I used to get during hormonal times when needing to “go to the toilet” is still in full force complete with the lovely shooting pains up my bottom!

I feel like they have missed some on my bowel but they didn’t tell me how much I had or where it was just that they found and removed some endo.... is this normal for them not to give me any details? I’m sure my discharge documents said no follow up required and they would write to me with results but I still haven’t got anything 😩

My understanding is that they should have told you everything. I would check with 'Endo UK' about this - contact link at top of the page. Also, check what info your GP has received, he may know more. If you are in the UK, certain types of Endo should be referred back to the GP for him to follow the precise diagnosis/treatment protocol, which in some cases may mean you are sent to a specialist Endo clinic for further treatment. I think most general gynaes, and even Endo specialists who are not in actual Endo Clinics are supposed to refer Endo that is on the bowel to a specialist endo clinic.

However, if your endo was all removed, you may just be having pain from the sites as they heal, and the mirena takes a while to fully kick in - especially as the period always cause s some changes and movement. Also, the mirena does work really well for some people, but can take 3 or more months for benefits to be noticed. I had one [pre-menopause, I'm post -menopause now: had it removed last year and am still fine] fitted over 6+ years ago and it took 3 months to notice a big difference, but by 6 all periods and pain had disappeared.

Hopefully you will be one of the lucky ones and things will get easier, but check with your GP about full details of what was found and what they did, and ask Endo Uk about what info they should have given you.

That does help thank you 😊 I will check with gp and I’m glad to hear it takes a while to kick in it’s given me hope! I just thought I was back to square one with the only difference being a diagnosis ! X
