I had my right ovary and tube removed ten years ago due to endo. So when they found a 10cm endometrioma on my remaining ovary,I was very worried that it meant early menopause for me. My regular ob said total abdominal hysterectomy was all he could do, but told me I should see a specialist (I'm in us). Consulted with a specialist and they told me they would try to save the remaining ovary, but it wasn't promising. Had my lap one month ago as of yesterday. They removed the cyst, my tube, and pockets of endo spread throughout. They were able to save my ovary, and I've just started my first period since before having the lap, so it is functioning. If you would like to try and save your ovary, tell them so. They will likely not make any promises as they really can't, but if they will try that's about all you can ask for. You will likely need a specialist as this was beyond the capabilities of my normal Obgyn.
