I’m trying to get referred to Hartlepool centre for a second opinion, my GP had never heard of them and I have called the numbers on the webpage but whoever I spoke didn’t know what I was talking about.
Has anyone been to this centre?
Many thanks

If it’s any help, I used the James Cook hospital in Middlesbrough - I was seen by Dr.Phillips who was absolutely amazing. His information is on the website, he’s a big specialist in endometriosis xxx
It looks like the number on the BSGE site is the main hospital number, so you'd probably have to ask for the gynaecology department and then ask them for the endometriosis specialist's secretary.
The endo specialist at Hartlepool is Mr Roy. After nearly 20yrs of suffering, multiple surgeries with regular gynaecologists I have finally been referred to an actual endometriosis specialist 🤗. After some initial confusion and upset, I now have a clear treatment plan, for the first time ever!!
It has taken years for me to finally get to see a specialist. I have had repeated issues from my late teens (I’m 37 now), back and forth to the GP with problems with my periods, hospital admissions through pain, finally referred to a gynaecologist when I was 30!! Who performed a laparoscopy and diagnosed me with endo. Since then I have had repeated endometriomas on my ovaries, ongoing issues etc. Sent back for more surgery to remove more endo from behind my uterus - I also had some adhesions and some patches of endo on my bowel, this was left alone because it wasn’t at a point that needed doing anything about it. Anyway, long story short, things have now got so severe, after discussing my case with my previous gynaecologist, they decided it was time for me to be referred to the endo specialist. I suppose it depends on where you are on your journey??xx
I was diagnosed 2 years ago by lap. In September I was put on Zoladex and HRT. The first month was amazing but since the beginning of October I haven’t stopped bleeding. I’m also on the mini pill. My GP has told me this problem is above her knowledge and that I need to get appointment with consultant.
It’s so frustrating!
I was hoping to get second opinion from a specialist but wasn’t sure how to go about it.
It really is frustrating, it’s like banging your head against a brick wall! Well from the sounds of it you’re definitely at a point where you need that referral to a specialist! Could you ask your GP to refer you to Mr Roy at Hartlepool? It’s part of your GP’s role to refer you to the relevant consultant, I’d get back to your GP and tell them what you want them to do.xx
