Had my diagnostic lap yesterday which has shown up severe Endo. Consultant expected me to have first Zoladex injection afterwards because it would make further surgery easier. I refused and said I wanted to think about it first. He wants to have a follow up in 4 weeks and start the injections then... With more surgery into the new year. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Severe Endo diagnosis...
I had prostap3 injection in between my two operations. The consultant made it crystal clear it was to make his second operation easier it did not help my health in any way. It is similar to zoladex. I figured, if this make the surgeon‘s job easier, then the operation can have a better outcome and works better for me in the long run.
I didn’t really notice any menopause symptoms at all. I think 50% people will have issues. You can have HRT add backs to combat any side effects. I personally thought a few months of side effects was worth years of better health.
I had the prostap3 injection before I got discharged and it lasted 3 months. Actually I was not allowed to leave until I had the injection!
It is a personal decision. You don’t have to have it. Hope this helps.
Thank you for your reply Stellauk. How have your symptoms been since? X
I am doing really well. Hardly have any problems now, and overall feel much better and more energetic. I was treated at a BSGE centre. My general gynaecologist referred me after the MRI scan.
I was not too bothered about the injection. However, the 3 months wait in between was a bit troublesome as I have to have a kidney stent in the main time. It was not much fun for three months !
It was all worth well at the end.
I would definitely ask re BSGE centre referral. A qualified and competent surgeon is essential for the successful outcome.
Good luck
Hi Lindle, I'm not being treated at a BSGE. Thank you for the link, I'll have a read over the next couple of days x
