New on here and need advice

Hi all,

I am new here, having just spend the morning in the ER after experiencing crippling pain in my left ovary. I was totally fine and all of a sudden i was doubled over and couldn't walk or sit as the pain was radiating into my lower back and tailbone.it felt like the worst labor pain and i somehow managed to make a warm bottle and drive myself to the hospital. I was given a morphine IV and after 3 doses could still feel excruciating pain especially when going to the bathroom for a urine sample.the external and internal ultrasound showed nothing??? And after putting it down to ovulation and giving me 2 neurofen tablets on top of all the morphine i wobbled to my car and drove myself home. I can still feel bad pain now when i walk or cough and i just can't believe that that's normal.i do get severly painful ovulations a lot but this was seriously out of this world pain.i usually suck it up and deal well with pain.i was about to drive my son to school and bang...i was in so much pain i couldn't stop crying. Lucky i have an appointment booked with my GP tomorrow, i am wondering if anyone has advice if there is tests i should be asking for? Thank you

Hi there, this sounds very similar to what finally brought me to getting an Endo diagnosis. I stood up at my desk at work and felt a sudden bursting pain on my right side, ovary area. An older woman at work thought I had suffered a cyst bursting as she had dealt with that before and it looked so similar. Upon going to the ER, an ultrasound showed nothing, but the gyno specialist said she suspected it was Endo. (I had been ignoring and downplaying the years of growing chronic pain, but it just got so bad finally that my body kind of shut me down and forced me to deal with it.)

Do you have any other Endo related issues: severe periods, chronic lower back pain, severe, firey ache for a good week after your period, extreme bloating, bowel movement pain, chronic fatigue, etc...

When this first happened to me, they never found a cyst, but it did lead to my eventual diagnosis - I'm awaiting my first lap for full diagnosis in December. I do remember though that it hurt a lot for a few days afterwards.

It may have just been a cyst that burst, but it may also be an indicator of a larger issue. Good luck and take it easy on yourself. Rest and hug that hot water bottle!

Hey JackieBo, thank you for your message....i do have few of those symptoms...heavy bloating and heavy periods and i have chronic fatigue syndrome...i have hads a lap a few years ago because they suspected endometriosis but nothing....i just wish the pain would stop

Hey,

Definitely don't ignore this type of pain! I hate when things don't show up yet the pain is so so real. Sounds similar to episodes I had. Tell them you would like a diagnostic lap as you are extremely worried about it. Or a second scan, I had a few scans before they would realise I had a chocolate cyst on my ovary. Which I have now had removed and they did discover endo. Just write out all your symptoms and keep being persistent! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼 ❤️

Hey Johanna, thank you for your reply.i am still in lot of pain 12 hours later....so glad i have a doctor appointment in the morning. You're right, i had a cyst before that was only found with a second scan and i'm worried about endometriosis. I should get it checked again..

Yes definitely if they found a cyst too. Did they say what type of cyst was found? That could be causing you the same sometimes even small cysts tilt and press on certain nerves which can cause extreme pain definitely explain this to the doctors! Hopefully they will get you in for another scan to check on it ❤️

That was years ago but just reminded me when you said that...just cause the ultrasound today didn't show anything doesn't mean for sure that it's all good...especially because i'm still in pain...

Yeah they tried to say to me even when a cyst was present. Had the pain gone then? And I was like hell no!! Yes I would question them say it's affecting your everyday life you can't function properly and you want it further investigated. Tell them your worries as you know how hard endo is to diagnose and scans won't always pick it up

Hi , I hope the pain has eased for you now. I just wanted to say keep at it in terms of making your doctor listen to you.

I have suffered from many of the endo symptoms from being a teenager (although I only learnt what endo is about 10 weeks ago) . I'm now 29 and I finally got diagnosed just under a week ago through laposcopy.

I would go armed with as much info as you can to the doctors in terms of what you experience on a monthly basis or maybe constantly? Nausea, bloating etc? Be as honest as possible and make sure they take you seriously.

The internal and external ultrasounds are not a conclusive method to check for cysts, endo cells etc. That can only be done through surgery.

I was tested regularly over the past 10 years for diabetes, anemia etc and with everything ruled out they put my problems down to IBS and bad periods.

It's a cliche but we know our own bodies and I knew something was up but there seemed to be no answers. I'm so pleased I kept returning to the doctors now. As frustrating as it all got it's very easy to have a day where you don't feel as bad or chose to ignore the pain- you must persist. 🙂
