I've had problems with irregular periods, abdominal and period pain, crippling back pain and other symptoms for years.
I had a laproscopy and hysteroscopy on Friday which showed 'no obvious cause for pelvic pain' my main question today is has anyone had this result on their first lap and gone on to have a diagnosis of endometriosis?
I ask this because my surgeon has now discharged me from her care after this, without speaking to me at all. I saw her before surgery and that's it.
I've spoken with ladies i know with endometriosis and they've been astounded that I don't in fact have it, my symptoms match to a T. Even my doctor was happy to diagnose me with endometriosis with treatment of depo injection, it was only at my insistence of surgery for definite answers that this has come about. The gynaecologists I've seen have also said that most likely it would be endometriosis.

Its not common but has been known to happen in general gynae I believe as it's variable in appearance and easily missed and only a small amount can cause a lot of pain.
But there are other conditions that can cause similar symptoms and differential diagnosis is challenging, so it's worth investigating other possibilities if only to try to rule them out. I would also contact the surgeons secretary as ask why you have been discharged when you are still experiencing symptoms and remain undiagnosed and ask what further steps can be taken.
It's also possible you have Adeno which has closely overlapping symptoms with Endo and normally can only be confirmed by biopsy.
Thank you Starry. I have since found out that a friend had a clear laproscopy done but the same surgeon and ended up having a hysterectomy earlier this year due to the severity of her endometriosis so my faith has been somewhat lost. I guess I will have to just start from scratch again. Thank you for your reply.
Yes that is a bit disturbing.... Were you seen by a general gynaecologist dept? Really You want to be seen by a BSGE accredited specialist Endo centre if possible. They have surgeons specialised in the condition who must requalify every year and have advanced laparoscopic excision skills training that the general surgeons don't as a rule have.
I only have the belly button incision where the camera went and the incision on my left side for the gas, my friend said she has always had 3 incisions, the third for an instrument to move organs. I believe it was general gynecology. I have an appointment on September 1st with my doctor and I will request to see a specialist.
