I have been diagnosed with endometriosis and it has made its way into my bowels.
I have bleeding from my bowels during my period, wondered if anyone here experiences this & if it's sometimes quite a lot of blood as mine seems to be getting worse every month

Sorry you are going through this. I also havr bowel endo but I get severe pain through my rectal area during a period and for around 3 weeks after. You should ask the dr to do further tests and a possible laparoscopy to clear the endo from the bowel. Hope you get it sorted soon
Yes I get the pain too, to the point I cannot sit down mine seems to last around 10 days just before my period and then during. I have had an MRI and the consultant has shown me the mass of endo that has gone into my bowel just waiting for my next appointment however they seem to be taking their time so back to the doctors for me this week. The pain alongside the bleeding is getting too much!
Do you take anything for the pain? have drs said they can get rid of the bowel endo? with mine, they said its all too deep and only a hysterectomy will resolve my issues, but until i try for a baby, i have to put up with this pain. i bought some medical donut cushions to sit on - they are bery good at the dinner table, in resturants, work too. try hot baths too to relieve the pain.
Hysterectomies don't always resolve the issue ( the thinking is to remove ovaries to deprive endo of fuel, but some deep endo types can self generate oestrogens). Zoladex trial is usuallyvused as an indicator of this may be an option.
Hysterectomy is considered if you suffer adenomyosis or severe dysmenorrhoea but is a big step so read up on it. Usually excision is also required alongside although surgical opinions do differ around more radical bowel surgery.
Firstly are you being seen in a specialist BSGE accredited Endo centre. Only they are qualified to treat severe bowel and RV endo. This is specifically stated in the NHS treatment contract. If you are in general gynae get yourself referred over right away.
There are 3 types of surgery, shaving outer layers, disc resection, or segment resection.
