Oh yeah I know that but the NHS have been fobbing me off. I just hope a private gyno will give me answers, I haven't gone private it's just the first gyno appointment available through my doctor

It will be faster privately. You will get results faster and they do give you more time usually 45mins. I saw one consultant privately for my initial consultation but had my operation done under him on the NHS but had to wait a year for my operation. If you require an operation they will normally offer private or NHS if they cover both sectors. If you go private for an operation you won't wait as long but there are long waiting lists on the NHS but how long you wait can also depend on where you live. The only real benefit going private is that you bypass your GP which I wish I had done sooner and also you can sort your health out sooner and get a clear plan of what to do next. Good luck with your appointment x

I had NHS funded treatment at a private hospital. Is this what you're having? I think I waited 7 weeks for the initial appointment then another couple of months for the first surgery. I had complications with that surgery and the aftercare was non-existent so I ended up in the local NHS hospital anyway and all my subsequent treatment at a bsge centre was at an NHS hospital.

I'm currently having nhs funded treatment in a private hospital and my first appointment was in April I had another one end of May and have been offered surgery for 9th August this year. I was shocked with how quick everything was done in the private hospital after reading stories on this about year long waits.

How did you get the nhs to fund your private treatment? I have also been told it's a year long waiting list for an nhs consultation :/ thank you xxx

I just went back to the doctor because I was discharged from gyno a year ago, but since then the pain has got too much to cope with, and he said I can get you booked in with a gyno in 2 weeks and it's a private hospital, I didn't ask for private xxx

When my gp made the referral I had the choice between a local private hospital which said I would have my appointment within 4 weeks and my local general hospital which said I would have an apppointment within 12 weeks so I obviously chose the private and I'm glad I did x

I went private via my health insurance and have had an excellent experience throughout with a BSGE accredited surgeon. Yes it was quicker and my sessions are longer and I always see the lead surgeon himself and not an underling. The only thing I don't get is an endo nurse.

There are two different things

1 NHS funded treatment carried out in a private hospital setting. You are essentially a NHS patient and NHS has commissioned the private hospital to treat patients to reduce waiting list. Private hospital normally cherry pick the easy cases. You don't get to pick the consultant or time etc.

2 Privately funded by individuals or health insurance. You will be seen faster and can choose everything i.e. Consultant, hospital, date etc.

Which scheme are you with? The important thing is to get the BSGE qualified surgeon. If you are via route 1 then it is not likely.

I have no idea, all I want is actual answers my last gyno did not seem bothered at all

If there is no payment/ private insurance involved then it is likely to be option 1. If you have to pay for the consultants on fee and can choose who you seeing then is option 2

I don't really mind what option it is as long as there better then my last gynaecologist

Best to check BSGE website found the surgeon near you . Then contact his her secretary for a private consultation. Probably will cost 250ish. You should be seen soonish and get to talk about your problems in details
