Hi. My doctor suspects I might have endometriosis after years of going back and to with right side pain which comes and goes. All my symptoms point towards endo. All scans have shown up normal but something is going on it's just getting to the bottom of what's causing it. The doctor sent off a referral to gyno for suspected endo. I finally have an appointment late August. Just wondering what i might expect at tge first appointment please :).
First gynocologist appointment. - Endometriosis UK
First gynocologist appointment.
I was in a similar situation as you, but the ultrasounds that were done showed that I have ovarian cysts.
My doctor did a pelvic exam during the appointment and said she couldn't feel anything wrong.
However, after the doctor listened to me and learned my symptoms, she suggested that I can either "wait and see" (which I've been doing since my first gyno appt 3 years ago..) or she said that I could have a laparoscopy done to diagnose possible endometriosis(since this is how endo is diagnosed). I opted for the lap even though it scares me, I need some answers.
It was scary at first for me since I have a hard time being examined but I am glad I will figure out what's been going on in me.
I have my laparoscopy this Thursday so hopefully I will have a direction to go then. x
They'll sit you down for a chat to run through your symptoms with you. It helps to have a pain diary. It's also a good idea to write down all your symptoms as it's easy to forget one on the day. Have information about your monthly cycle to hand as they will probably ask you about that, too.
If the right-side pain is present, they may perform a quick exam on that area by pressing all around the abdominal area.
If they suspect endometriosis, you'll probably be recommended for a laparoscopy as it's the gold standard for diagnosis.
Good luck! x
