Mirena coil...

Hello ladies,

I have had the coil fitted last Tuesday, after three attempts of trying (took over ten minutes!). Had lots of nerve pain during the fitting, and was very faint/nauseous afterwards.

My worry now is that the pain is worse after I have a wee. So every time I go to toilet the pain rears up again and I'm not sure why.

Has anyone else experienced this, and is it normal?!

Thanks in advance x

Hiya love,

I had the Mirena put in a few months ago & I experienced pretty much the same as you in the couple of weeks afterwards. I don't think I experienced the worsening after peeing though, what kind of pain is it? For me I feel like my pain is so much worse altogether than it was before I had the Mirena in, I'm so sick of it if I'm honest but I'm gonna stick it out a bit longer & see if it changes.

x

Hey! Thanks for your reply. It's like a heavy pain, like a dull ache - as soon as I have a wee it kicks in. I didn't know if it was normal for me to be still getting side effects a week after? I went to my doctor yesterday and he says there is no infection or anything. But my boss looked on a forum today and said it could be a sign of bruising, they did try fitting it three times over 10minutes at least!

I hope things improve for you! 😘

Side effects can last a while unfortunately. The fitting of mine was horrific, so painful, I had to get the local anaesthetic into my cervix just to get the speculum in without pain, totally thought I was going to have to get it put in under general but luckily I managed to keep it together to avoid that.

I hope things improve for you too :)

Hi, you might want to go to your Dr's and check you haven't got a uti, it can be normal after theyve been messing. But again they may have damaged you uterus while fitting. Although you can expect pains and cramping for 3-6 months after fitting so it could just be that.

Hope that helps

Xx

If you are very unlucky you can pick up an infection from a coil fitting. I'd suggest you go to your GP to discuss your symptoms in case it could be that.
