Hi. I have just joined so this is all new to me. I was diagnosed with endometriosis in 2003 and had two surgeries between then and 2005. I was told the endometriosis couldn't be cured. However, up until now with the use of a Mirena coil and more recently an implant I have had no bleeding or sign of a period whatsoever. However, 3 weeks ago I developed pain on my right side with abdominal bloating and swelling. I didn't think much about it until yesterday I had a heavy vaginal bleed. I am still in pain and am now seeing a gynaecologist again for the first time in over 10 years. My question is whether this is likely to be recurrent endometriosis. There are of course other possibilities like cysts but I am alarmed by the bleeding which has happened again this evening and hence my pain has got worse. My stomach feels very swollen. My medical history is complicated by a total colectomy 2 years ago but not for endometriosis so I can't believe this is happening. Any thoughts would be appreciated as I had forgotten what this condition was like until now.
