I've seen a Consultant privately this afternoon, she's said I can have TAH BSO which she will do at the NHS BSGE centre. I have Stage 4 endo with bowel involvement and it returns quickly after excision alone.
I was wondering if ladies here who have had this op could tell me their experience (warts and all!) xxx
Don't lift heavy things for eight weeks. Eat sensibly you can eat anything . Small frequent meals is good. You will need to eat food that's high in glycemic index such as banana , sweet potato ,orange fruit ,nuts etc. So that your sugar doesn't fluctuate. Make sure you look after yourself have enough sunshine it's for vitamin d for your bones or get supplement, eat foods that's rich in calcium , neat , fish, pulses, lentils, vegetables as well. Get a good facial moisturiser and moisturising body lotion and hand cream as your skin might be dry so always maintain good skin hydration as it prevents wrinkle once you have your op.
When it comes to hormone replacement they have synthetic type and herbal type or if you could manage no need for it. Your GP need to monitor your bone density to prevent you suffering from osteoporosis .So you to go for this scan once you are fit after your op maybe in 2-3 months time it's called dexa scan. It's like having an x- ray only thing it's whole body so you lie on the bed.
Once you have your op you will experience hot flushes in 24 hours as your body has no longer oestrogen . But don't panic . Lessen your coffee or tea intake as it exacerbate the hot flushes. You could have decaf decaffenated coffee or tea. Much better if herbal tea.
Usually with this type of condition complete tahbso is the right procedure. Your consultant is right to take you to BSGE hospital that specialised with this type of operation. Nowadays they do it laparoscopy depends on your circumstances. Prior to your operation you may experience a strong emotion such as , as if you are grieving or you lost someone or about yo lose something, or you may feel as if you want a second opinion or you are in denial or you might hate or blame yourselfor pity yourself. This are normal as you go to this process cry if you must share your pain and anguish to someone close to you. Talk it out don't bottle it up.
You will be fine , you need to take control of your health and your life... Be strong and be brave you are not alone in this journey.
Hoping and praying that all goes well with you!!! Kind Regards....
As long as you have endo removed and bowel freed up as the same time as op you should be fine.
I had TAH and BSO in Feb 2015 at 42 due to endo and adenomyosis but was done by General gynae and he left endo behind. Finally had endo removed and all problems it created 2 and a bit weeks ago and finally am feeling better and pain free.
Check out hysterectomy associations website as lots of useful info and ladies to chat to about their experience.
Thank you so much for your reply 😊 The Consultant said it's vital that all endometriosis is removed during the surgery xxx
Mine told me it was impossible to be sure all endo was removed as some of it can be so small that it cant be seen via the naked eye! Endo has 3 stages, clear, red then black depending how deep it is, or if that spot is active or not .. That was an endometriosis specialist. Its why they put us on coil, pill, zoladax after excision. Its also why surgery has a high failure rate. Its not necessarily that it comes back, but that in fact we still have it!
I wonder possibly if this is why I haven't had menopause side effects with Prostap. Because some small amounts of endo remain and they release oestrogen? It's possible I suppose x
