Adenomyosis and endometriosis

Dear ladies,

I have been diagnosed with a small (?) adenomyosis in december. As the hormonal treatment hasn't worked, my gyneco is sending me for a lap next week. I have searched on internet for hours what was the difference between adenomyosis and endometriosis and if they were often found together but everything is really confused for me.

Could someone help me to understand ?

I thank you really much :)

Emma

Thanks a lot for your reply and the website!

Adenomyosis is basically endometriosis growing in the wall of the uterus itself. Endometriosis is the endo tissue growing in other places, such as on the ovaries or bowel. You can have either or you can have both.

Adenomyosis is tissue normally found with the uterus known as 'uterine lining' growing in between the muscular walls of the uterus.

Endometriosis is uterine lining growing outside the uterus and within the pelvic and abdominal cavity.
