My gyne has asked me whether i would want them to put the Mirena coil in while i am having a laparoscopy but i am unsure whether to go ahead with it as my sister had a bad experience with hers.
How have people found theirs?

I had one put in 7 months ago during surgery. Only a bit of pain from it for a week or so, from that aspect it's absolutely fine. However, quite quickly I developed bad side effects - severe headaches, dizziness, nausea, bad flare up of eczema, etc. I was told to give it 6 months and I did, but I now feel like it was 6 months wasted. I had it removed a couple of weeks ago and I haven't had any headaches at all when I used to have a constant lingering dull headache and severe every couple days. So far I'm glad I got it removed. I would still say it's worth trying, a lot of people love it. It just wasn't for me.
There have been a few questions about this recently so you might want to have a look back through the posts. I had the mirena coil fitted in 2013 and I have had a very positive experience. It has stopped my periods and all associated pain. Xxx
