Extremely aching arm after having a cannula.

So I was in hospital for 3 days and had a cannula in my right arm, my arm ached and felt very funny whilst I was in hospital. I was discharged a couple of days ago and have still got and extremely painful ache in my arm shoulder and neck. Is this normal? I think I may have had an allergic reaction to something they gave me as I had bright red burning patchs on both my arms yesterday but after taking allergy tablets and speaking to someone from the NHS line it has gone down. Is my arm suppose to be so painful? And is their anything i can do to ease the pain?

Many thanks

Hey,

It may be something as simple as a pinched nerve, however as it appears you may of had some sort of allergic reaction and the pain is persisting, it's probably worth going to see the DR (or if you can't go see a pharmacist who should be able to give you a good indication as to whether or not you need to push to see a DR urgently at which point you can also advise the receptionist when booking you've been advised by the pharmacist etc).

Probably nothing to worry about, but as with anything out of the ordinary that persists it's worth having it checked out. :)

Hope all resolves for you soon.
